I got the type 1 ECU flashing interface from Flashtune today.
Here are the tuneable features for the 07-08 R1:
-Fuel table bias (ECU uses a MAP vs RPM and a TPS vs RPM table for fueling, the bias adjusts how much each table contributes to the final value used to control the injectors.)
-TPS vs RPM Fuel map (per cylinder)
-MAP vs RPM Fuel map (per cylinder)
-TPS vs RPM Ignition map (per gear)
-Engine braking
-YCCT APS vs RPM throttle maps (not directly edittable, can choose between two preset maps: stock and "race")
-Fan temps (stock or 205*F on, 195*F off)
-Immobilizer Operation (Normal or Bypassed)
-Yes, you can import .djm PCIII maps into the software, the software then scales the fuel maps for flashing the ECU just like the PCIII does.
Flashtune does claim to be actively expanding the software to allow for other adjustments as well.
I flashed my ECU with the "race" YCCT map and used the 6th gear ignition map for all gears. My bike does now idle around 1900 RPMs. After looking at the "race" YCCT map closer I believe it may be to blame. Aside from the high idle everything worked great. I went out for a quick ride and was able to power up 2nd gear sit-down wheelies, I tried hard before but it never happened. The bike does feel like it has a little extra pep.
Here are a couple of screenshots of the YCCT maps and the 1st and 6th gear ignition maps.
It was the same image I use all the time, just the bone stock 09-11 R1 91+ image that comes in the 1.5.4.0 software (I assume it was that map, but I just picked it from the top of the list on the left, so if it was pulling it from the my documents folder, then maybe they were the new V2 maps the new software put in there, who knows).
It's a "blank" ECU file for the new V2 flash-tune software. Wipes the ECU clean, then you can flash in whatever map for the bike. When you turn the key on it'll throw out 20 or more codes at you, looks totally screwed, but the bike will start and once it starts all the codes will be cleared.
It's not my file as it was developed by someone else so I'll ask if I can share it
I wanted to see what it would do with the "blank" ECU image, just for shits and giggles Was the first time code 39 didn't show up on the display, customer was happy at that point.
:thumbup....Also, on that other one with the weirdness on the dash. Did you go into the dash and try and turn the R1 logo and TPS display back on? Because they are user selectable in the dash options.
I did. They show up in the display options, but once you exit the option mode, they disappear. Also remember no "mode" display, just blank, no A, B, STD Is messed up for sure.
Oh was just wondering if you were getting the same power wheelies. Kind of difficult to keep front end down with the -1. Might actually put it back to stock and see if that helps.
Well if you got the new interface, I was told they would be ready to ship by the end of this week. Ordered mine yesterday, ill be happy if I get by the middle of next week.
Hey folks,
I've been working on a map while I've been working away on the rigs. I made it on my net book and have copied the ecu image on to my laptop to flash
The image flashed better than with previous versions (previously it was a nightmare to connect with a 4c8 and when it did connect often failed) but I wondered should I have copied more than just the ecu image. I'm not exactly sure what the defenitions etc are and whether I should have copied those too....tried ringing ft but no answer
Also the bugs I previously mentioned are still here on another pc so it's definately not just my set up on my net book
Some of the fixes were in the def files....So you need to go into the file manager and re download them from F-T. It actually says that in the release notes.
I had re downloaded the definition files from ft to the new pc, I just wasn't sure if, when I made a new map, it made new definitions. I now know that it doesn't , so when I copied the map to a new pc I didn't need to copy definitions etc from the old pc....the ones from ft will cover it
Just spoke to chris and he advised that because I downloaded definitions when I downloaded a base map that the defenitions I need will be there....new defenitions etc aren't made when you alter a map
All the bugs I previously mentioned will also be fixed in this next update too
tad let me know when you can make a 12 version so i can set a appointment for dyno runs on my bike. i will have to try V2. tho i kinda want to wait till the new update hits before i DL it..
Bob, It will be next week for the 12+ map. Crap hit the fan today with moving and housing and defending stuff....so I am up to my eye balls until after the 17th.
I may banish my self for a few days just to dig out from what happened today....so if I don't respond to anything after today....for a few days you guys know why.....:shake
Don, it will be, just more stress than I was looking for right now.
SteveO, if you have removed the AIS switching it does nothing, because it was physically removed from the bike........:lol.....so that setting had no effect on your results....because there was no AIS system to disable....:lol
Ok one more because I just today got an email from F-T about this and was going to post it up.....
Q: Where did the load bias setting go? Does the software default to TPS vs RPM or something different?
A: Left at stock for now for simplicity sake after playing and playing and playing with it I don’t think modifying the bias is as much of an advantage as I might have once thought
Q:Is there a way to look at the fuel map in % difference compared to a selected map? I know that you can do compare, and that just looks at the absolute difference between two maps. A way to view a % diff between two, not just stock would be handy, as the % diff is proportional to the ratio of AFRs. So this makes it a little more intuitive for tuning.
A:I think we need to just modify the original O2 sensor input to accept a wideband 0-5v and run in closed loop… time will tell I have been testing this approach for almost a month but I have yet to perfect it. I just need a little more time! *pulling out my hair
So in short, there is no such setting in the newer version.
I responded with this:
Thanks for the reply. I know that there are guys that are trying to run a PCV with AT, and are unable to use the new software because they can't disable the OEM 02 sensor. So if you don't think switching into TPS vs RPM sooner doesn't gain us anything, can we at least have the O2 disable force TPS vs RPM option so it can be properly dyno tuned and not show the check engine light?
So what is the answer? No, you can't disable the O2 sensor anymore? So screw you to my 09+ R1 customers that have to install an extra bung in their midpipe for their Autotune?
Didn't work? Well, I know if I save in v1, then open in v2 and save, then reopen in v1 its saved as the bias you originally saved in. So v2 isn't changing the file atleast.
Why do we need to disable the 02 in flashtune if we're running PCV and autotune? Is it just if we make a map on a bike with AT and then flash a bike, without AT, using that map
Before FT we didn't have the facility to disable 02 and the PCV and autotune work fine without disabling it. I'm obviously missing something
