when was the last time you saw any advertisement regarding a newly redesigned damper by ohlins??? it hasnt happen because more than likely it hast be done!!!

its pretty simple and i'll give you a prime example, when was the lsat time you heard yamaha said "introducing the newly resigned R1..." ??? back in 2009, correct?! right, so if you include the 2013s now how many hears has it been since 09??? over 5 years that no engine modification has been done to the engine!

so you think that other people are going to be redesigning damper yearly just because?! cmon dude, it doesnt make sense in any way!!!

not to forget that beasically everyone is saying that a company like ohlins were given a contract like for instance from aprilia, kawis used to their dampers, and that the company was like: "well, since we 2 major contracts with aprilia and kawi we're gonna put our lowest and crappiest product on those bikes so that we force them into purchasing a "aftermarket" damper from us again..."

it' so stupid to even consider that once a company has a contract with anyone (specially as much as these 2 bike makers were prolly paying ohlins for their product) that they (bike companies) would accept a subpar product or that ohlins would simply give them the lowest quality that they produce just to prove a point that their "aftermarket" is better than the "issued" damper! wake up people!!!

Not to be a pain, but doesn't Brembo do this as well? The bikes that come with Brembo calipers aren't giving you the $3000 versions, and still need to be upgraded if you want "better" calipers. The R1 has a Brembo master cylinder (right?) but many people still upgrade to a Brembo aftermarket Master Cylinder for improved performance and feel.

So it isn't out of the question to provide a lower end version for the stock bikes and still sell the good one aftermarket for the same bike.

Actually since you brought that up, yamaha is paying for more money than everyone else as we're the only bike which has a 6 pot individual piston... So I'm sure they're much better than per say the 4 pot "aftermarket" brembo, so what about that?! And just to be one with personal experience, my aprilia had a fully adjustable ohlins damper and if you looked at the one they sold as aftermarket, both were 20 clicks adjustable so I'm not sure how much different it was the per say the "aftermarket" counterpart.

My aprilia had ohlins forks and shock and it was the same as the aftermarket one... It just wasn't like the "race" type that they also sold for it which was sbk and shit like that but as far as it being to equal or better than the ones you'd purchase for your non-ohlins equipped bike aftermarket suspension, it was right up there!

It is possible to receive a lower quality item when you mass produce but hardly believe that it would actually happen... You also have to put into perspective that the item in question (it being an upgrade that no other bike has) would perform as good as if you were to purchase it on your own or I'd like to think so! Otherwise then you're just paying 3-4k in parts that are obviously subpar to their equivalent aftermarket parts.

That would like saying that even thou the aprilia rsv4 factory which comes with marchesini rims, those aren't as good as the equivalent aftermarket counter part... Both wheels have been weighted I'm those forums and the difference is absolutely minimal!!!

But hey, if you're bike has X brand of damper, exhaust, suspension, wheels etc, etc... And you think that only by buying the aftermarket equivalent is the only way to actually receive the performance you should've received in the 1st place then go ahead and spend that cash! As long as its all worth it to you.
