KT Motorcycle quad HID projector headlights - Anyone have these?

So my new to me 2004 R1 (link to post) has HIDs in the low beam projectors, yet the shitty stock halogens in the high beams. Driving at night, the low beams are amazing and provide tons of light, when I flick on the high beams however, I can hardly even tell they are on. I get a tiny dim yellow/orange spot right above the HID cutoff.

Needless to say, its a little sketchy riding at night with only the low beams to really rely on, so I've been looking at some quad projector headlight assembly's so I can get some HID's in the high beams as well.

I came across some Chinese headlights that appear to be everything that I am looking for:

Here is a link to an ebay posting:

Headlight Assembly for Yamaha R1 2004 2005 2006 Angel Eye HID Projector Custom | eBay

And here is a link to the KT website with what appears to be the same item:

Yamaha YZF R1 2004 2005 2006 Angel Eye HID Light Headlight Assembly

Does anyone have these, or seen any reviews on them? Oddly enough, they are $50 cheaper if I buy them from ebay then from the website itself.

Which purchase do you think is safer? going with the ebay listing with an "ebay money back guarantee", or buying it directly from their website for $50 more?

I really want to buy them, but $600+ is a lot of money to fork over for something from china...

If anyone has these and could help assure me that they work and are not just Chinese junk that doesn't match the listing, it would help put my mind at ease...

With HIDs in the high beam projector, every time you flip the high beam on the HID will have to warm up before coming to full intensity. You think you can't see shit now? Wait until you flip the high beams on and you see less for about the first 30 to 60 seconds until the HIDs come up to temp. Bad idea. Look for LED replacements for your high beam bulbs. They are instant on like a halogen bulb, use less power, and are damn near as bright as HID.

the ~30 second HID warm up time was never much of a concern for me. Even during the warm up period it would be brighter then the stock halogens. That would also only be during the initial warm up. If I have to flick off the high beams for ~10 sec for an oncoming car, it wont take a whole 30 sec to get back up to full brightness.

As much as I like LED's, without a focusing lens of some sort, straight up LED bulbs are not the greatest at light projection. Just sticking an LED bulb into the stock high beam reflector housing would only succeed in completely blinding oncoming traffic with scattered light, without actually throwing it far down the road where I need it.

Surely I cant be the only one on these forums to have come across these headlights and thought they looked awesome.

I'm surprised no one has purchased them and posted a review, considering that there are plenty of chinese fairing reviews here....

Well...Thanks to the financial trouble China went through with their stock market and such, the price of the headlights dropped by $100, so I decided to take a chance and buy them.

First off, the wiring harness is HUGE. 4 HID ballasts, 4 LED voltage boosters/igniters, 2 large relays, and a switch. Only about half of that fits under the windshield, and that's if you REALLY pack it in there tight. I had to move two of the ballasts to the side fairings.

Getting everything to fit where I wanted it to involved lots of cutting and lengthening of wires, adding of connectors (so I wouldn't have to cut wires when I wanted to take my fairings off) and other slight modifications. But, if you are mechanically inclined, electrically competent, and know how to use wire strippers, butt connectors, crimps and heat shrink, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

The headlight housings themselves fit as well as you would expect for a Chinese product. Not perfect, but you'd never notice unless you got really close and knew what to look for.

Once I got everything fitted and wired up, I fired up the lights, and DAMN they look badass!

They have 3 "states":

-Running lights only - Using the switch attached to the harness, the HID's can be turned off, leaving just the 4 Angel Eye LED's and 2 outer DEMON eye lights on. They are very bright, and I will certainly be using just the running lights during the day.

- Low beams - With the bike running, flipping the switch turns all 4 HID headlights on, and the demon eye's off. They appear to have a very similar cutoff as the stock headlights, so it shouldn't blind oncoming drivers.

-High beams - Flipping the high beam switch on the bike causes a mechanical piece to move in the two outer lights, allowing them to shine at a typical high beam angle. They are much brighter then the stock halogens. A big improvement!

And finally some pics!

This looks dark because my phone couldn't handle the brightness

Again, phone couldn't cope with the bright awesomeness

Since I just got them, and winter is starting to set in, I cant comment on the longevity or quality of the parts...but HID and LED stuff is pretty common nowadays...Surely even China cant screw that up...most of it comes from there anyway.

This is a late reply but i recently purchased these headlights for my Honda CBR600RR (I know wrong forum but I want to assist in any way possible). I purchased them from another guy (not the actual website) and it was a huge mistake for me. I paid $300 and at first the headlights worked really well for about a day or so, until the left side high beam failed and won't turn on. I suggest its the wiring harness...Oh well. The guy also won't accept a return so I decided to purchase one from the KT website.
I just recently bought the item from the website (like right before typing on this post) but as soon as it arrives I'll be sure to update you guys on the quality and such ASAP.
Since the item is on eBay, you can purchase them on there because of the "eBay money back guarantee" but I would probably suggest to go with the actual manufacturer (this being KT) due to my experience with the 2nd hand seller.
