So basically im looking for ideas on making the bike street legal "ish".
Here is the bike, i race with the yart bodywork and i plan on some
Sort of led lights to attach to the carbon bodywork, making the switch from street to track a half hour job.
My idea so far is mounting my integrated tail light to the motoholders subframe and that covers the rear, as for the front i was thinking two 4"x4" led pods (the ones you see on alot of pickup and off road vehicles) mount them to the forks ran off a toggle switch.
But like i said maybe someone has done this or has pictures of other bikes, i want it to look nice and not too out of place.
I run a philips daylighter 4 LED fog light under my front fairing. Yes, they are a little more expensive, but they're bright and reliable. It's only an inch high, so it won't hit the fender and 5ish inches long, so it fits perfectly under the upper. I put 2 bolts through the housing before clipping the light in (it's 2 pieces). drilled 2 small holes under the fairing and cut up rubber stoppers to keep the light level (the bottom of the upper is curved)...ran the wires up to the harness. boom - headlight. It's not great, but it gets you home and is very bight for others to see you.
Tail section - I bought a stock tail and paint matched it to my race body work. I swap out a superbike tail to the stock tail with integrated tail light. stock seat for comfort, integrated tail for signals. Obviously, you'll have to get creative with the motoholders subframe.
I bought a woodcraft brake light pressure banjo bolt for the rear master. 2 ebay round bar end mirrors.
I have a bright headlight, bright taillight with signals, 2 mirrors. With wheel swap (slicks on 1 set, street on the other), 1 hour track to street, 45 minutes street to track.
If you want to pm me your number, I can text you some pics.
Here is what I had for a little while to be street "legal" when I was first starting to get into track riding:
LED strips in the front air ducts as running lights and separate turn signals, just wired up some connectors and could pull the front off in about 2 min. Led strips in the rear for the combined running light/brake light and separate turn signals, again just used stock connectors and could disconnect quickly. For the track I just unplugged them and left everything in place.
Everything was plenty bright to be seen during the day, but I wouldn't have run much at night with just the running lights.
I never had an issue with the Virginia or PA police. All running lights and turn signals were there and functional. Plus you can always use hand signals.
And this was just for the occasional street ride. And I didn't have to swap anything to go to the track.
