Hi everyone, I just bought a 2004 R1. The stock chain length for this bike is 116, but the previous owner has a 118 (530) chain on there bc he was running a -2/+6 setup that I want to change back to the stock 17/45.
Do I definitely, 100% need to get a new chain to do this or can I just buy new stock sprockets? Thank you in advance.
the chain is actually almost brand new. He had the chain put on in March this year then stopped riding it because the rotor that surrounds the stator blew up. He lied and told me it just needed a battery but at least I know the chain hasn't been stretched out or beat on too much. Gonna drop the oil pan to clean it out now...
That's the plan. It's a vortex 530 chain, so I just ordered some steel 17/45 sprockets. Anyone have a chain press tool they recommend? Don't want to throw too much cash at something I'll only use once
As long as you have enough adjustment on the swingarm, not a big deal.
