The Showa site does show a decent enough hydraulic schematic of it... From my understanding, it works just like a Ohlins TTX or KTech shock. All valving is done at the base of the fork, the piston is simply there to sweep the oil volume through the valving. Displaced volume (shaft) is pushed into the nitrogen chamber. The benefit and reason it's called balance free is because it does not require a pressure balance. yep i'm serious, a schematic is only good as what a proper explanation is, otherwise its just a pretty picture

I usually like gold forks as far as just looks go but they are a very pretty looking set of forks. I wonder what the pricing is compared to the Ohlins.
