What a dirty air filter

So took my air filter off today. Bike has 8k miles on it. Man it was dirty. Had dead bugs in it and a lot of black stuff. So got the air compressor and cleaned it out as good as I could. It's a temp fix until I get a new one. What name brand is good. I see k and n. Bmc. Just wondering if they are all the same

Is there a big difference between the race and regular BMC?

If you're in a dusty climate, stick with stock. I have a sprint and just put my stock filter back in.

Not really dusty. Pollen gets crazy here in SC. That's about it

yep....just got rid of my sprint due to the amount of dust getting past the filter...
the reviews are great...but I can say that dirt got past mine where with my BMC no dirt gets past....

I'm thinking the BMC or just a stock

Stock $40
Bmc $70
Bmc race $83

the race filter filters less. allows more air flow but also more dirt. not recommended for a street bike

K&N actually flows better than BMC. BMC is just barely better flowing than a stock paper filter. but here again it's a compromise. you can't have both a super well flowing filter that captures dirt well.
oiled filters capture more dirt because of the oil. the filter media in a bmc and K&N is actually very shitty for filtering anything. but it flows good.

I would go with either the bmc or K&N over stock only because it's reusable and will save you several hundreds of dollars over the lifetime of the bike.
I ran a BMC in my R6 for many years and about 16k miles. the air box under the filter was very clean every time I cleaned the filter.

how could you tell? sprint claims it filters as well as a stock filter can. I decided not to buy one after seeing an article on motorcycle.com where they had to modify the filter by cutting it to make it fit the air box on an R6.
F that. for $100+ it should be 110% perfect.
