recently fitted a new loom to the bike after the immobilizer packed in,bike starts but cuts out at 70 degrees, driving me nuts! has anybody had this problem before? :frown2:
Sounds like somethings touching the engine where it should not be and getting hot. When wires get hot their resistance increases, which will drop their ability to pass voltage.
I'm guessing possible fuel starvation. Does the engine slowly die if left to idle ( at the time the issue is occurring), or does it quickly shut off (like hitting the kill switch) ? It would be hard to tell how its "shutting off " while riding, let it idle until it shuts off if you already aren't doing so. Check for a pinched fuel hose or fuel pump power not plugged in, and also fuel flow from the tank itself ( if it slowly dies while idling). A sudden shut off would be an electrical issue, the bike would act drastically different between an electrical shut off vs. an engine running out of fuel, at an idle speed it should be obvious whether its electrical or fuel related.
narrowed it down the cooling fan, when it kicks in it runs terrible, as if its misfiring, when I disconnect the fan it runs great again. do I replace the fan or is this a wiring issue?
Sounds like your charging system could be running low. Check your charging system and I'd also check your Voltage across the battery about the time it turns off and see what happens.
