Hi all.have a rather odd rubbing noise coming from top right hand side of engine while warming up.whether clutch in or out makes no difference.its not a metal slapping noise like a cam chain rattling.seems to increase with rpm to a higher pitch hum.The sound at idle is like pressing your finger against some slick plastic, and rubbing hard so you get a noise.i would like to know if any of you also have this.have changed oil and looked for anything unusual.but found nothing.thats all I have done at the moment.have not looked at anything else.
Had a day off today,so removed bellypan and timing cover.felt cam chain tension.tight on tensioner side and loose ( thickness off chain) on opposite side? Turned crank over a quarter turn and tension on both sides.rotated engine by hand a few times and was still tight.sat cover back on and ran engine for 20 seconds.removed cover and found chain loose again on right hand side?..not sure what is going on here.my understanding is once the auto tensioner comes out it should not go back in.if there is anyone that has their bellypan off at the moment and wouldn't mind simply taking off cover to have a look at how chain came to rest when engine was turned off,I would be very grateful. Cheers
