Hey guys, long time no speak.
A while back i had an issue where my bike would not start. I rebuilt the top end and got the beast running however i now have a different problem.
The bike will not start on its own. i have to use a jump box to get it to start.
First thought was that the battery was dead. not the case. charged fully, tested the battery under load. everything came back good.
Second thought was the starter. I pulled it out and disassembled, no issues. over half the brushes left, no binding on the bearings. no broken fins. all seems fine. i took some fine grit sandpaper to the commutator bars and polished them up to remove some canonization however this did nothing.
Third thought was starter solenoid. i bought a factory replacement (98 bucks USD from my local dealer not fleabay special) and this did nothing.
The bike will turn over a few rotations then starts to slow and eventually stops.
i can get it to run using a jump box however this is not something i really want to do as im afraid ill fry the ECU.
what are your thoughts? any ideas? im thinking about getting a used ECU and harness to replace those at a later date (want to flash one and keep one stock), but i would absolutely love to get the damn starting issue ironed out first. any help you guys could provide would be great. Im a IT technician by trade and not to terribly technically skilled when it comes to figuring these things out on my own, not like a server or workstation, not my expertise. :33:
