They have multi-packs of chain lube on sale at Costco right now.

Use what you are comfortable with, but be willing to accept the side effects. I use nothing but WD-40 when it is dry out, but if I start a ride knowing I'm going into rain I use some of the gooey sling all over the place commercial lubes.

I know you're just being sarcastic but...all chain lubes have petroleum based lube.
however WD-40 is mostly made of Mineral Spirits, which is paint thinner.
also most chain companies are using nitrile(buna N) for orings. no need to worry about them. unless you use lacquer thinner to clean the chain. which I'm surprised I dont see recommended by internet dweebs just so they can feel they've stuck it to the chain lube man!

I'm a huge fan of chain wax, use it on my KTM 525 EXC, 250 SX, my 80's, and both my R1's. Used it when I rode across Europe for 5 months on a 2000 R1 (28,000 k's all up) and it saw duty in rain when I rode from Spain to Switzerland, dust through Croatia, Portugal, Spain; hot, cold, all kinds of conditions. I did a reasonable amount of off-road riding in Portugal (my friend with a BMW GS took me to several wilderness areas with considerable stretches of dirt road. My chain lasted really well. There may be lubes out there that could technically be better, but I'm pretty happy with chain wax.

Good judgement comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgement.

Truthfully from every article I've read about this topic, you do not need a lubricant for o-ring chains. The purpose of the lubricants are to keep the metal on the chain from rusting and keep dirt out of the o-ring where the actual lubricant is located. I'd suggest a product that keeps junk away from the orings and actually will stay on the chain without flinging off.

Here is a test regarding wd40

Another video, a little rudimentary but a good video regarding chain wear

Wd40 had gone from chain cleaner to chain lube now?? The day isn't far when it will be squirted in with oil change to protect engines and to top up blinker fluid.

WD to clean, then Bel Ray Super Clean for lube, and I also have some of the Teflon Chain Saver but I cant find it anymore. I do a clean/lube cycle. Keep it clean and 20,000 miles on oem chain/sprockets is reasonable, some guys get more for sure.
