Chuck, on the 2009 R1 that I plan to race I have full Ohlins, Marchesini a full Akrapovic. I am wondering what I can do next to get another 10-15 hp from the motor. YEC ecu? Cams? Cam timing? Head gaskets? If you had a couple g's what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2001 with a retrofit infiniti fx35 Bi-xenon projectors replacing the original headlights. Everything works great and it looks super nice. The only problem that i found is that when im running the projectors the battery is not charging at all. So what i do i ride the bike with the headlights off in the day. what can i do you to get more power to both systems?
thanks!

Graves Cams 1600, Yec ECU with Graves Map 871.00, Graves Cylinder Head 1400 = 178 hp
Runs on Pump Gas , you will need the gaskets to assemble

Get technical info from the Graves Motorsports Staff and Race team. Occasionally one our own Race Team mechanics will step in and take on tech questions that can only be answered by the pros.

Lets keep this thread strictly R1 tech and we will get some questions answered. I will also be adding some standard technical advice that is relative to Graves products and/or just plain fun to talk about.

Thanks, Taige

Not true... However, you do have to remove headers 1 & 2. Trust me, its better to remove them! I also recommend putting a bag over the open exhaust pipe and secure with a rubber band.

I'm pretty sure this applies to all Graves exhaust, not just the low pro.

It really sounds worse than it is. The pipes are spring mounted so it's just a matter of popping them off their tabs. They come off and fit back in place with minimal effort...

Graves Y-Pipe ???

I know you guys at Graves sell a cat eliminator slip-on exhaust system. I have a 2007 R1 and already have Cat Back Slip-On System, I just need the y-pipe. Will you guys sell just the y-pipe.
If so, how much?

Thanks

Not the '07-'08 full Graves system. Just drop the plug and drain. Can't speak about the '09 version.

I have a full Graves system on my 07 R1 and was wondering if the tip that is inside the end cap was removable? Also what is it there for? To make it a little quieter? To increase back pressure for more mid range and torque? Some other reason? What will happen if I remove them?

I've got a PC3 with no map (for future use when I get slip-ons), Graves smog plates, Akrapovic y-pipe, and stock slip-ons (no racing baffle kit just bone stock). Do you disconnect the O2 sensor when using the smog plates? If so wouldn't you need to get a "canned" or a "custom" map to make up for the lack of the sniffer?

I'm sorry if this seems redundant. I've posted this in a few places and can't get any answers. It's not urgent as I've got my tank in the shop getting painted but I would like some kind of explanation. I've read contradicting info of people with similar mods running good and running poorly so I'm just trying to cover all bases before it gets good enough weather to ride.

I was told by Graves that if your bike runs good with it connected leave it. They said it only affects your mapping under 6000rpm if I recall and only under low load. If you punch it hard at any rpm the ecu uses the map and ignores the o2 sensor. Its basically for economy and emissions. I still have my o2 hooked up. I forgot to mention that I have smog block off plates also. My bike runs great.
