Personally I'd go with a Bazzaz. The PC only controls the lower 4 injectors and to upgrade you'd have to get the SFM. The Bazzaz controls all 8 injectors AND the coils also you can step the game up and go with the auto tune and never have to dyno again. Just my own personal thoughts on the situation. And if you haven't already I strongly suggest flashing your ECU, and along with getting that flashed, with the Flash-tune interface you can upload any PC map to the ECU and flash it as many times as you want along with getting rid of the 80% restrictions, default to A mode, YCCT race settings and some other good ol jazz.

hey guys , so what are the best brands for power commandors??
and with flashing the ecu, it sort of goes hand in hand with the power commandor doesnt it? i mean like if your getting a exhaust system put in, you should change the exhaust gasket (from what ive read ) , get a power commandor, and also get a air filter and flash of the ecu?

thanks

Depends on the flash, a good flash (dyno tuned) does away with the need for a power commander. Better yet, buy the setup and make changes yourself without sending your ECU out.

Does fuel control and can import PC5 or Bazzaz maps - no need for PC5 or Bazzaz
Does ignition control - no add on module
Does quick shift control - no add on module
Does speedo correction - no speedo healer needed
Does throttle maps - make your own quick turn throttle
Does fan temp adjustments - no need to add a switch to turn fans on
Does secondary injector control - no add on module

That's not even the full list of capabilities. Now go price all of those and if it's more than $150 (flash service) to $380 (buy the bike side flash setup), I think you have the answer for what to go with.

well you just made a good point there bro, now where can i get these maps from? anyone got them around here?
and if i get these maps would i buy them and then take them to my mechanic to get the biked dyno? or does he do it all from scratch and doesnt need like after market map to work with?

You can download the fuel maps for free from power commander's site to start with and depending on what you want and have. Tad has made a pretty beastly 3/4 system image that he's made available.

Before you dive in, I recommend setting up a FlashTune account and downloading the software (free). This way you can see it and how it works before buying the interface.

ahh kool no worries, who is tad? he a guy from here on r1forums?
with getting the software on my computer and having a look at it, so do i get my maps and all that done on computer and then i what, put it on a usb or somethig and plug it in to the bike? like what do u need the software on computer for , what can u do on it?
im back home from work hopefully next week so i can download and have a look.

and as for starting with a fuel map from power commandor and going from there depending on what i want and have as you said, im not mechanically minded enough to be mucking around with this stuff, im guessing you take it to a mechanic that has a dyno and he knows whats best to get most power etc yeah? or do you tell him what you want and he just takes orders?

i think ive found a good mechanic around no too far from where i live, he has a few r1's himself and works on all japs and duc's
going to give him a call in the next few days

Flashing the ECU is making the changes in the ECU. Some people send their ECU to companies to get flashed so they get restrictions removed and a generic map put on the ECU. Then they add a PC5 with the auto tune module (uses a wideband O2 sensor to adjust fuel levels to a target AFR) and make a custom map to run on the PC5 on top of the generic flashed map. Basically tuning the fuel to their bike and area.

There are several ways to go about it; flash only, PC5 only, flash/PC5/auto tune, PC5/auto tune, as well as flash/data logger and you tune your own flash images using data collected from the bike (this is the route I plan to go). Just have to find the one that's right for you. You may want a generic flash and then use a PC5 and auto tune to dial it in. Depends on how comfortable you feel with using the technology.

I think the best thing to do is to talk to some of the tuners around your area and see if they'd be willing to use the flashtune software. My problem is most of the tuners in my area just want to use the Powercommander and don't care to work with the flashtune. If only I had access to a dyno...

And I'll also add if they're willing to use the FTE software without charging two arms and two legs. Attack Performance will do it, but for like $300 more on top of the $400 for the dyno tune. FlashTune has a shop nearby that will do it for about $200, just not sure how good of a job they do.
