Wondering what the fuel mileage is for the R1's gas burning rate?

It all depends on how you ride it. But 28 would be real low.

I have figured it out before, I was on a trip and we stopped for gas when my light went on. I had gone 220 miles. the tank holds 4.7 gallons reserve light goes on with oprox. 1 gallon left. so that comes out to 59 mpg. the reserve light is not that accurate so even if it is out a little thats still in the 50 mpg range. Note that is cruising not getting on it at all. I put in the stage one jet kit and now it is around 35 mpg. plus I ride it a little harder.

Ive ran the 200mile per tank mark a couple of times, with about .8 left of gas. It depends on how you ride, if i ride hard i get alot less. But i usually sport tour.

how do you ride it to get 220 miles out of the bike without refueling?

i cruise in the city all the time, and i usually have to refuel by 120miles.

maybe im riding too hard?

how many rpm's would you consider hard riding?

Keep the bike at 5k and you should have no prob getting good mpg.

My r1 has plenty of power from 4k on up.

I usually get about 35-40 mpg, and that's a combination of street cruising, fast highway riding, and being a bad boy on the bike.. anything in the 20's would be too low I think..

Sport Rider's bike of the year article says the R1 gets 35-50. I typically get in the low 40's, and I ride hard, usually keeps my revs around 6k.

Usually I get 38-45 miles per gallon. Which works out to about 120 miles when the res light comes on. The most I've even gotten is 150 miles on one tank with res light on the last 20 miles.

It's not the falling that hurts, it's the sudden stop that hurts!

I tried to push the limit a few days ago. Got to about 215 miles on the tank and the reserve light still wasn't on. Didn't pay attention to how many gallons it took to fill up.

I get 42mpg very consistently riding to and from work. When I sport ride I get in the low 30's.

Hmmm...I'm seeing the fuel light at or around 88-100miles on the odometer. 88 miles if i'm riding hard. 100miles if I'm taking it easy. What gives? If I should be getting 145 miles before the light comes on, what's the problem?

Left lane is for passing only...get the F outta the way!

HAH, 215 IS A BIG DIFFERENCE COMPARED TO 115

115 ok, ive gotten 127 and that was hard riding on freeway. so i think freeway vs. city makes a big diff, and you can only avg it out.

maybe 35-45 sounds about avg for city / freeway mix

maybe i can get near 200 if i stayed on freeway not riding too hard? dunno, but usually for a mix of daily riding, prob cant get 200.

Just an FYI,
The R1 gets 5-7 mpg better than the GSXR 1k, and 10-14 mpg better than the RC51.

Sometimes the benefits of the reward are worth a lot more than the consequences of the risk involved.
