Because this is such an awesome bike and an engineering marvel, there's been a ton of fascinating articles written about it! You can Google the V65, and find anything you'd want to know.

Caution! Caution! Caution! This bike is fast! 117 HP - 170+ MPH! It was in fact, listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, as the fastest production sport cruiser made!

I'm a retired pilot, and I've owned several of bikes. And the best way I can describe the difference between the V65 band all the others, is like the difference in flying an F 16 versus a single engine prop plane. Why? Because of the instant, on demand power, and the smooth quiet acceleration. There's no vibration. There's no noise. There's no engine straining or whinnying...there's just a smooth whoooooosh, and you're gone. In city driving you'll be purring along at 40 or 50 MPH in 5th gear. When you need to accelerate to pass someone, you just give the throttle a gentle twist. No need to downshift, the incredible power of this bike extends through all ranges. Cruising along at 80 on the highway, same thing...twist, whoooosh and you're gone. And there's much more throttle left that any sane person would ever want to use!

This bike...
I bought it from the original owner. It was completely stock, in pristine condition and babied from the day it left the factory. It's never been down, and it's in perfect mechanical condition. Only 13600 miles!

I added a few upgrades.
Handlebars - the original bars were a 3 piece assembly. I put on the later model one piece bars which I found to be much more comfortable, in addition to improving the agility and handling characteristics.
New grips.
Custom highway pegs
Very bright auxiliary LED brake light.
Chrome horn set
Brand new front & rear tires


As you read about the V65, you'll see that some people suggest various mods. I've considered a couple of them, but really haven't found the need, as the bike has performed flawlessly for me, even in the desert heat. But then again, I don't "hotrod" the bike, and I'm somewhat fanatical about maintenance. i.e. oil changes, all fluid levels, cable lube, tire pressure, etc.


Along with the bike you will also get the original owners manual, the original Cycle Magazine with the V65 review, Clymer's Honda V65 service manual, CD with parts list & schematics and Honda service records.

wtf? anybody that knows anything about bikes knows thats crazy. the speedometer doesnt even go to 170mph.

i bet that was the same motor platform as the V4 VF-1000F interceptors around the same vintage.. those motors used to EXPLODE all the time and umm sucked big time

Actually, they were good engines, they did have an oiling issue that could be user fixed though that greatly reduced the chance of anything bad happening.

I just sold my '85 V65 Magna a little while back - loved that bike. Mine put down 99hp at the rear wheel. Honda Spec says arount 117 at the crank (it is an 1100cc V4). It was listed in the Guenness book of records at 173Mph back in 1983. I think this was "design speed" and not an actual run. That bike was all kinds of fun and I put squids to shame all the time with it. Don't knock the V65.

No way the aero on that bike would permit a 170mph+ top speed.

Maybe he meant 107mph?

At first I thought this was a joke but after researching online it looks to be true, this bike was seriously fast - 10.9 quarter mile times? 173 mph top speed? Unbelievable!
Here is an exerpt from CYCLE Magazine 1983:

"What makes this Special so special? In a word, the engine. If you talk horsepower, the Magna speaks your language. Its horsepower translates directly into an immediate gut wrenching rush unmatched by any other production'. street machine. To a man, the cycle staff raved about the engine. With its wonderfully potent and flexible powerplant, this big four is a strong and willing worker that hums along happily at 1500 rpm or sings fortissimo at the 10,000 rpm redline. The best part of the V65 is a mid range punch that would do justice to Larry Holmes. Whack the throttle open at 5000 rpm in first gear and the front wheel claws for the sky while the Magna catapults forward. These antics are interesting enough when you’re mounted on an open class motocrosser but when a 589 pound motorcycle with a wheelbase of nearly 63 inches takes off like a carrier based F-14, it gets your full attention."
