R1 1/4 mile time

Any one know what the average 1/4 mile time is on a 02 stock R1?
How about 0-60, 0-100 and 0-150

YZF-R1 ('02) 10.10 @ 141.75

0-60 times are all over the place...I've heard 2.2...and I've heard 3.0...but from all the times I've heard, I'd say that the accurate 0-60 time range is between 2.5-2.8 seconds...don't know the 0-100 or 0-150 times...

man, i swore quarter mile times were like 990's, i know i couldn't keep the front end down long enought to ride a 990 but i heard it was possible...

When it was in Sport RiderAugust 02, the time they listed was 10.10 at 141.75 mph, in the 1/4 mile, I'm not sure about the other times.

and pull a 10.10 quater mile time...

I've been drag racing cars since 1993 and there are two
important things you need to accomplish this.

FIRST- You need an experienced rider. Not just a any
motorcycle rider, but a rider experienced at drag racing
cause dragging knees won't help you here. You would
need a person who is skilled enough to pull off an almost
perfect reaction time. Your reaction time would mean the
difference between a 11 second run, and a 10 second run.

SECOND - You also need good 60ft. times which would
require alot of throttle mixed w/ a good reaction time.
Also the R1 front end will come up on you. I'm sure the
guy who ran these sub 11 second times had a wheelie bar.

So all in all, to think your gonna just go to the drag strip
and pull a 10.10 or lower quater mile time on your first or
second try, sorry but it's not gonna happen....

I never said it was just going to happen.
I have been taking my 900 RR to the strip for two years now. I know the R1 is different but the 10.10 sounds like a fun goal to shoot for.

I drag race my 02 R1 some but I lower it when we go to the track. My best is a 9.85 @ 143 mph. My 60ft usually are around 1.59-1.63. Stock gearing works the best at the quarter mile. My 1/8th mile times are 6.30's @ 117 mph. It is a freakin blast !

My friend and I went to the track, while I didnt run, he did.
First time ever on the track, he pulled a 10.706 on his first run ever. Bone stock, nothing change or strapped down. Ill try and get the slip for the rest of the numbers

so in closing... Stick to cars strider.... bikes are obviously not your thing

Haven't done it myself yet but I do go and watch. I have seen a stock 600 GSXR break 10 while guys on liter bikes just under 11. I would have to say that the rider makes a big difference.

Actually strider your reaction time has absolutely nothing to do with your E.T.

You can have a green light for 5 seconds if you want, the E.T. clock doesn't start until your front tire breaks out of the beams.

Also the people who claim these incredible times (10.10) are using corrected altitude and weather factors. These factors are very generous. (The guy who ran this supposed 10.10 probably ran more like a 10.50, then using the correction factors for weather and altitude the number magically goes to a 10.10)

And the people who are running sub 11's in the quarter are not using wheelie bars.

I have personally run a 10.32 on a bone stock R1 with the front end strapped.

But strider is right in that it will take someone with a lot of drag racing experience to do this. I have literally hundreds of passes on my R1 and it takes the perfect amount of throttle and clutch to achieve a 1.70-1.75 sixty foot.

Your time doesn't start until you break the beam on the starting tree, you could wait there for 1 minute and still run a 10 second 1/4 mile. I've raced 10 second cars for years,

I ran a 10.706 @ 129mph my first time ever on the track w/ a bike. that was w/ a bad launch. Its all about riding the clutch out & hold the bike till it cries. That was on a stock bike, stock gearing - just one demented rider. I know w/ a few more tries i could pull a mid 10. But, i was in jeans & sneakers so they threw me out. oh well.

Why is this not possible. Most 1/4 mile times are adjusted for sea level anyways.

In Hawaii I ran my 98'R1 at 10.23 @ 135 mph. Bone stock........

I've pulled almost the same time on a 99' ZX9R as well. Jet kit and full Muzzy exhaust.

Both these Motorcycles had no wheelie bars and street DOT tires.

Am I a professional drag racer? No. Did I road race (drag knee)? Yes.
Did I race dirt bikes? Yes.

So what's your point?

It's possible, look at the numbers in the back or a motorcycle magazine. I think the 01+ R6's are rated at 10.7 through the 1/4. The Gixxer is just a hair faster. I ran 11.3 on my 00 R6 on the track, and if I remember correctly that wasn't far off rom the magazine tme. The only 600 that beat me ever(stock) through the 1/4 was a Gixxer 600 a friend of mine had. Whenever we raced it was a tossup, with both of us beating each other from one race to the next. I've never run my R1 down the dragstrip yet though.


EDIT: I assumed here that this guy means that the stock GSXR 600 was breaking into the 10's?
