Stupidest thing you ever did on a bike, or saw someone else do?

Stupidest thing I did:

When I first started riding I was trying to show off to my friends while coming out of my parents driveway. I gave it to much gas around the corner and the back wheel kicked out. My bike lowsided and slid right under my dads car that he had parked on the road. I had to go into the house and ask for his car keys... he asked me what i needed them for and I said I had to jack up his car..... he asked why ... I said to get my bike out from under it as it was wedged in to tight for me to pull it out.

HE called me a few choice names and then came out to look - he started to laugh and went inside to get his camera to take pictures of my idiot move.

Stupidest thing I saw in real life:

After a late night I was "driving home" and sitting at a stop light. The road was 3 lanes going the same way (one to make a left turn). I was in the curb lane and there was a Police car waiting to make a left turn in the far lane. A guy on a cruiser bike came up to the lights in the middle lane and stopped. He forgot to put his feet down when he stopped and the bike fell into the cop car! I got out of my car and obviously the cop got out of his - the guy was drunk and I guess he was so worried about stopping correctly with the cop there he forget to put down his feet!

Needless to say the rest of his ride was in the back seat of a cruiser... A tow truck came and harnessed his bike up (non to gently) and off it went

Wish i had them! They were taken about 30 or so years ago. My dad is dead now and I never found the pics. It was a honda bike with what they used to call "dyno bars" that protected the inline 4 engine casing. The metal tubing of the dyno bar on one side got jammed between the pavement and the underside frame of the car. I rememeber the car - it was an ugly blue Maverick. Fortunately it was the 2nd car and not the good one. My dad didnt seem to care about the bit of damage i did to it. If it was a car made today i probably would have done about 3k in damage!

here is a scan of the old 82 750F - you can see the dyno bar that protects the enginge casing.

I watched a 17 year old kid run a nearly brand new Aprilia Mille R into a parked car because he wasn't paying attention. When the bike hit the deck he immediately jumped up and started running from the scene because he had no motorcycle license. Apparently the kid's family was loaded and bought him a brand new one to replace it a week or so later.

Similar to the OP, I myself dumped my first bike in a parking lot showing off for some girls. It was pretty humiliating, but taught me a lot about why motorcycles demand respect.

Watched a guy at dealers open house/dyno days buy a brand new gsxr. Wearing shorts and a tee-shirt ride it off the lot and try to impress everyone there by doing a wheelie. In front of about 100 people since there were stunters doing a show also. Pulled up the front wheel hit the powerband and looped it, all in about 20 feet. Only a little rash on one side of his body but the bike needed new fairings, rear set, controls, exhaust, and tank. The crowd reaction was cheering to laughing in about 2 seconds. When he finally pushed it back across the street to the dealer more then one person said "might as well start with the mods now".

My first bike was a 97 EX500. One day I was pulling up to my friends house and he was out front on the porch with some other people. I thought it would be really cool to do a stoppie as I rolled up. I had never done one before and had no understanding that the bike should be straight. As I turned in I squeezed hard on the brakes, locked the front wheel, skidded, hopped, almost went down, and then came to an awkward stop with everyone staring at me going WTF?

When I was 20 (now 22) I went out one time for a drink cause I had problems with my girlfriend, I took my CBR600rr had a couple of drinks too many and was brave as hell and wanted a adrenaline rush to take my mind of things, then as I was speeding I didn't notice a rock the size of a golfball on the road, I hit it at 50mph the front end of the bike jumped a bit, then while in the air I accidentaly steered to the left then landed badly, next thing I remembered was waking up in the hospital with the girlfriend by my side. Ever since then I learned to respect the bike, and never will I drink and drive a bike again. A year later I graduated college, and my dad gave me a brandnew R1, since he knows I learned my lesson.

The lamest thing I ever did was on a dirt bike I had. 2002 CRF450R. I was selling it because the local track closed down and there was nowhere to ride close by in my area. So since the bike was sitting I liked to run it at idle in the garage so I don't have fuel problems from bad gas. After like my 4th or 5th beer (I wasn't planning on riding anything at the time just letting the bike warm up in the garage because it had been sitting) I felt I needed wheelie practice on the street (DUMB). I ended up land surfing on my back and had the opportunity to see the bike skidding on the footpegs with sparks flaming behind me as it skidded down the pavement.

dumbest thing for me.
I have done a lot of stupid shit but most of it off the road.

When I was 13 I bought a DR250 of a bloke in his 70s for $200, it had all the road gear but the rego etc was expired, he had had it parked up for nearly ten years as he developed a problem with his eyes and couldnt ride or drive.

I lived, at the time, in a semi rural area, the township consisted of about 6 shops and 1200 people, and was located about ten minutes drive out of a large town. bonus was, there were never cops around.

I would get on my bike, tell mum I was taking it to the river, and go try out dumb shit.

One time, I got it up to about 90km/hr, going down the street that runs in front of the school (it was a weekend so no kids about) stuck my feet over the bars, then just laid all the way back. I had jeans a t shirt and a helmet, couldnt see where I was going, how fast, or if there was any traffic coming. Thought I was shit hot.

Wouldnt do it again!!!
