They are going to make it look like a 06 R6?

there's article about it in 6 february MCN News but i can't get any in pdf and won't spend so much money on subscription. Any one got that magazine and could scan pages?

from what i know that fairing is only for tests, they changed swingarm so it will look like in s1000rr and are aiming to make it more race bike so the exhaust won't be underseat mounted to redistribute weight lower

yeah, looks A LOT like a R6... And I absolutely hate the front end of the R6's.

From where the original image came from, it seems like most people are calling it an R6, which I can agree with.

Interesting...lets see how it performs. Hopefully Yamaha will step up and get on the electronics side like the s1k. IMO in 09 BMW really set a high bar for sport bikes with the performance/electronics it offered. Crazy to think its taking the big 4 brands to take this long to keep up.

An argument could be made that Kawasaki is already caught up to the BMW. Well it might not beat it but it's close. Not sure what the hell Honda has been doing for the past 5 years. I'm very interested to see what Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki all come out with in the next few years as they all need major overhauls.

I'm actually quite impressed with my buddys 2012 1000rr. While I haven't follow Honda for few years now, it's a very solid bike.

I think the Honda ranked second to the BMW in a lot of tests.

I would agree that AFTER an ECU flash the Kawasaki is close to the s1k performance. My point is that is has taken the big 4 manufacturers (or one of them at least) to come close to what BMW did 5 years ago.

Honda is a great bike, I have even seen an MCN shootout where the Honda took 1st over the BMW.

Mcn claims it is, just disguised as a 6. Also that it won't be a triple.

If that's the spy shot, then my neighbor up the street must be a Yamaha tester He's had that bike in his garage for about two years now- Looks an awful lot like the R6... Sounds like one too

Thanks Uncle P!

They give a few reasons its the R1 (exhaust size and note). They also state that the BMW S1000RR was prototyped with R6 plastic so its possible that yamaha has done the same. They even said the plastic was hacked up in a few places to make room for the larger powerplant.
