FZ09 3 cylinders crossplane?

The crossplane sounds just like traditional inline 3 on speed triple?

Its not going to have the traditional crossplane sound. With three cylinders, it will have an even firing pattern (every 120 degrees of crank rotation). If a flat plane three cylinder existed (does it), it would actually sound weird like the i4 Crossplane motor.

On paper this seems like a great move, but I cringed when I saw the HP numbers for the FZ9...

yea that yamaha 850 sounds amazing. Im sure the fz9 will sound better without that huge can on it.

Wow, that tuned Yamaha XS850 Triple sounds awesome. My '00 Triumph Legend 900TT triple with bored out stock dual exhausts, modified primary airbox, removed emissions / secondary airbox, fully tuned Factory Ti Jet kit on carbs sounds similar (like a triple should) but more toned down. The FZ09 sounds like a tinny 4 cylinder in comparison, but I'm sure with a nice full exhaust and proper tuning it should sound like a triple!
