Snagged a 2015 with 600 miles on it. A lottt of changes to come. Right now, just enjoying the parking lot toy as I wait for parts to arrive. Going to build it to be a little stunt Grom, then possibly run it on the track on occasion if I get the wild hair.
The list of what is on the way:
-Akrapovic Low Mount
-YSS Stage 2 Rear Shock
-KevTek Main Cage
-KevTek Subframe Cage/Pegs
-KevTek Front/Rear Axle Pegs
-BrakeTech Axis Cryogenic Ductile Iron Rotors
-RCB 2 Piston E Series Front Caliper
-RCB P32 Dual Rear Calipers
-Brembo RS14 Master Cylinder
-PSD Dual Caliper Bracket
-CoreMoto Brake Lines
-Impaktech EZ Pull Clutch
-DBZ Dual Projector Headlight
-Bride Seat
-Adjustable Rearsets
-Really Kool Red 420 Chain
-ProGrip Red Rally Grips
Here is what it looked like when I picked it up a couple weeks ago:
Nice list of mods as well. Didn't see big bore kit on there though :sing: I considered getting one of these but after seeing top end speed; I thought otherwise because where I'm located currently there wouldn't have been much I could do with it. Tyga carries some sick bodywork for them also.
Aaaand....the parts list = more than the bikes worth. But seriously though they are a lot of fun. My wife and son have both learned to ride on mine. A really great bike. I have ridden mine off road, through trails, through the city, and back again. A really versatile bike. I get more looks on the Grom than I do on the R1 or DRZ. The air box mod helps it breath. If you are gonna track it, I think pirelli makes a sticker tire for the Grom. Although the scooter tires are not half bad. Congrats and enjoy!
Haha. I got a good deal on the Grom, so it left more coin for upgrades. :crash I definitely get more looks on the Grom than on any of my other bikes, especially with the color it is now. I'm trying to keep from spending any money on the engine, as I'll be dumping that money into the swap. My thoughts exactly on the tires, I'll have a track set of wheels and tires, which will be Pirelli :thumbup
Awesome to hear and beautiful change of color! I also spotted a TST sticker on the tank in the before shot, sweet! Ride safe out there and happy grommin!
Looks like fun. My grandson would love something like that. Right now he has a small electric sportbike that I rebuilt for him when he was 7 but now he's 10 and it's getting a little small for him..
I have one and kept it stock. As a stock bike its super quiet which is great in the pits during track days or around the campground. The biggest gripe I have is the shocks on these terrible New England roads. I have my daughter learning to ride a clutch on the thing. I just picked up a Duc Scrambler Full Throttle and its not much bigger than the GROM. Talk about a fun bike for hooning around.
Amen about the suspension. It's far from adequate. Which is why I was certain to make point to change it. Haha. I have the rear shock on the way, and the front forks will get insets once the stock start leaking.

I like the scramblers a lot. I was going to get one to ride the street and dirt/gravel roads. But I couldn't bring myself to spend the coin so I went with a drz400sm. Can you post a pic of the grom next to the duc?
As you can see the GROM actually looks taller in the saddle than the Scrambler. The weight of the GROM feels about 1/2 of the Scrambler. Plus its tiny wheels really add to the feeling of being on a tiny bike. The GROM is nimble but skittish. The Scrambler feels more like a standard motorcycle, yet it is so nimble but so planted and confidence inspiring. Reminds me of the first time I rode an R6. Just tip it in and smile.
Today I was free from work early and the winter weather here in New England lately is more like South Carolina's winters. The mid 50's had me out on my GROM practicing balance point wheelies for about an hour. It's one of those bucket list things I want to accomplish. Endless balance point wheelies is my winter task. Nothing like an old dog learning new tricks. At the end of an hour I was impressed with my measurable and predictable improvement.
Oh man im jealous!!!! i had no idea groms existed till this summer when we went to a honda dealer. We all wanted one but the problem is were all scattered across the city so any meets would literally take a huge effort to avoid the freeways
Not sure if you know him and are friends, if so, oops; but I can’t standdd his YouTube videos. :lol I don’t know if it’s his voice, or the lingo he uses, or the cheesiness of it, or all of the above. But I got through a couple of minutes of one video, and that was a wrap. :banghead:
I own 2 groms as well. one for me and one for the wife. i now have the EBC big brake kit and Ohlins Fork kit on mine. still need to do Bars and and such on mine.
There are a few motor swaps on the Grom forums. It seems the CBR250R makes a good donor. I don't understand why a guy would want to put a Pannigale motor in a Grom but it's fun to see others do crazy stuff like this. Sorry to see it quickly burnt to a crisp.
I recently put the DCR cam in my Grom. The best performance improvement PER dollar when coupled with a tuner. Pipe and intake and tuner is a minor improvement with a very loud penalty. The stealth manner of the bike in stock form is GREAT! A loud pipe attracts unwanted attention from people calling the police on you while you are practicing stunts in some industrial parking lot. The cam makes a noticeable boost in seat of the pants measurement of bhp. Next step for me is putting a real suspension on it for a 200lbs rider with gear. I'm going with a full CARD system from MNNTBX. I may end up leaving the cam and intake on but insert the baffle that came with my Akra pipe. It's just stupid loud right now.
why does akra make a better looking pipe for a grom than they do the damn 2015 R1?
