Ok guys new to the board - I'm looking to buy a 2010 R1. I like the headlight design, it's like the second year of that design. Plus the age makes it affordable for me. It's also a friend from highschool so I know the bike is as advertised. I'm in south florida and the bike is in Texas. The bike is perfect. Low miles. I just don't know who to entrust with the shipping. Any ideas on who to use?
I used Haulbikes.com to ship my R1 from an Ohio salvage yard to my home in San Francisco. They were extremely professional, and handled my tricky timeline very well. They also rotate different promotional prices on shipping at different times. Give them a phone call and see what they might have going and if they can give you a quote. 100% vote of confidence from me.
Note: If you live in a tightly packed urban area like I do, the big ass truck won't actually deliver to your street, but to a main thoroughfare. You'll coordinate with the driver as he gets close to your area.
I'll check them out thanks! Well the first result on Google was motorcycle shippers but they are ex-pen-sive and there's 1 or 2 reviews that I didn't like. Including this one: J.C. Motors-motorcycleshippers.com, misleading at best! | eBay So if anyone has used them please let me know.
The cheaper price came from one called National Express. They are a bigger company it looks like to me because they move more than bikes but have a whole section dedicated to motorcycles and i searched to see if I found anything negative but didn't find anything, just the people reviewing were talking about their cars. But they look pretty legit National Express Auto Transport | 800-284-7177 I'm hoping someone can chime in if they've any of these guys. I just don't know who to trust and don't want to get it damaged. I want to weigh options and read reviews but a reference makes it easier to pick.
Got a quote today for National Auto Shipping(877-393-3232) for motorcycle transport from Denver to Dallas for a price of $492 with delivery in 49 to 72 hours. Not a bad price compared to other quotes. Original plan was to fly into Denver and rent a pick up to haul bike back myself but I'm finding it hard to locate a pick up in Denver. No luck with Enterprise or Avis. My next option my be to rent a pick up drive there and back.
Might want to try Uship.com From what I remenber, it's kind of like eBay. You put your cities in and what you're shipping and let the bids come rolling in. I ended up shipping an R1 from northern VA to Idaho(2300 miles) for $550.
Get a uhaul trailer or a pickup + friend. A friend and you can easily pick up the bike by hand with no need for a ramp. I've lifted bikes by hand 3-4 times with only one guy helping. Ramps are expensive and usually it's not my bike that broke down so I haven't bought one yet.
