FWIW I followed up out of paranoia, the original version did have failures as no material connected the sprocket nuts, I've got the Rs7 version and I wasn't able to find and documented failures since they updated the product. Of course it's 1 oz less than the stock sprocket so it's not exactly "superlight".

Thanks for the heads up anyway, I enjoy my bike too much to stress over mechanical failures.

I remember seeing a comparison of sprockets some time ago, which was just weighing them and commenting on appearance. All of the steel sprockets, including Supersprox, were similar weight. The aluminium ones were much lighter of course.

I've been pleasantly surprised how well my AFAM has worn, but am doing a longish trip in a month and would feel safer running a steel rear.

I've seen Vortex disintegrate quickly on the street. Driven AL rears always held my old 08 CBR 1000 well. I'd get 10,000 out of them and they looked good still

Hopefully the tool steel front. It's light enough I think. I'm interested in some durability.

Thanks for everyone on their support with this group buy.

Happy to be able to help everyone get these great sprockets at this pricing.

Still about 11 days left on this to join in, do feel free to share this offer with your friends as well so that they can take advantage of the group buy.

According to the service manual... 98-99 R1 has a 16T stock front sprocket.
