If you could get a high enough transfer rate on a small nose mounted camera so that you could fly it from your living room, I'd pay you money to see the footage on Youtube.

I saw just the other day that someone mounted a GoPro on a EDF plane....I will be getting a new plane soon, somewhere around 1400mm wingspan, so Im sure I will end up mounting a small camera.

I fly a small electric in my neighborhood all the time, only the guy at the end of the block is a dick about me flying over his house.

What you have to do here is string em across your hood like you took em in a hunt and you'll get high fives when pulled over . In my experiences you can't carry them around in a suitcase because its like transporting illegal stuff.

Try it next time .

*edit* next time you drive here not fly

we were doing that 17 years ago with hobby grade equipment + a little bit of custom equipment. Not only did we get real time footage out the nose of the vehicle, it had HUD info on it so you could fly it, manually or on autopilot. GPS based navigation, too.

I saw in the last week or so some pilot on Fla flew over his own house and saw a robbery in progress, called the popo and followed thim until he was busted. Tell your wuss neighbor you're providing free neighborhood watch services.

Oh and make sure and get footage from the houses that have pools.

I used to have hours of footage, but all on VHS or Hi-8, but it stayed with the company. The whole reason this particular autopilot was built in the first place was because the guy had a ducted fan rc jet that he said could fly xxx mph. Nobody believed him, so he put a small pitot tube on his plane, hooked it up to a board-mounted pressure sensor, overlaid the output onto a video image taken from a small camera, and broadcast it live over TV channel frequencies. From there, it got developed into a more full blown autopilot with GPS nav, HUD on the video, C-band transmission, etc. We put in on a cargo delivery container that had a deployable wing on it, extracted it from a C-130 at 25,000 ft, deployed the wing, cut away the chute, and flew it to the landing point, then popped chutes to land it like a typical cargo pkg. All of it was done via the autopilot processor, but from 20 miles away we could take over at any time. All for under $5000, which at the time was nothing. The same technology today probably costs $500, except today's technology is light years ahead of what we had.

NO you don't! The deployable wing was basically a fold-out ram air inflated hang glider wing with custom integrated & developed elevon control surfaces. It was barely stable and crashed most of the time due to complete lack of quality control on the project.

here's a pic of it though: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/a...p/parawing.jpg

along with short blurb on it: http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/a...p/ridgwing.htm
