I am curious about this as well. I had rapidbike on my previous panigali and loved it. I'm now looking at getting the r1 harness and program to switch it over.
Had a talk with the guys at EDR performance and they love using it. Saw a couple of builds of them using it and apparently it works really well.
So... since it has been confirmed that the FTECU autotune is a long way still and I hate riding my bike blind(AFR wise) I´ve decided to take the plunge and order it. Should be installing next week and reporting back.
So I finally bought and installed this. My review is very short as I´ve been traveling overseas and have not been able to give the bike a good run with it yet.
Ordered from Bellisimoto (the distributor is actually CYCLEPRO ORLANDO) and was shipped directly from Orlando. Fast and quick.
Installation was a snap. EVERYTHING is plug and play no wire splicing(vs bazzaz or pcv which both require to tap into wires). It comes with instructions with pictures in black and white but you can download the pdf online with color pictures to make it even easier.
The module itself is a bit big but since I had removed my servo unit as I had flashed my bike before I just then placed the module right there.
At start up it was a bit rough so called the guys at cyclepro and they connected remotely to my PC to check on the module setup thorugh the rapidbike software and noticed some settings were off from the start. Had them correct everything remotely and started her up... roughness gone. (Cannot say enough how helpful the guys at CYCLEPRO are. THey know their stuff and even days after I had installed the unit they kept following up with me on how the module was working and how the bike was running... serious thumbs up on customer service!)
Went for a short ride afterwards and the bike felt much smoother than before. Apparently it needs time to remap the whole bike since it uses the oem lambda sensors but my bike ride was cut short due to weather. Spent next day riding her and the more I rode the bike the better it felt throttle wise and power wise. I wish I had a dyno locally to see the before and after but at least the bike felt much more peppy and it´s not throwing flames as much as before or smelling like running rich or having to clean my AR exahust tip as much.
I haven´t ridden her much afterwards since I´m out of town... but will report back when possible. Overall I recommend it... and rapidbike also opens up the door to so much more adjustability on other parameters(engine brake, launch control, traction control, pit lane limiter, etc) and also by using their "you tune" control to adjust stuff on the fly that I feel it´s quite a complete package.
Now I must stress that if fueling control is all you want and don´t feel bad about having to tap into wires on install... think you can´t go wrong with the other piggybacks either. Personally I just wanted something that offered more for the money.
Any forum member that have used or using rapidbike tuner modules.. I am currently on the market for tuning my 2015 r1 and most of the input about rapidbike has not been updated. I am leaning towards this module because of the function of utilizing the factory 02 sensors. My questions about it are is it worth the price difference between pcv and bazzaz about functions and tune ability? are the functions outway the ones of the pcv.. most videos of it online are dyno by EDR racing and no end user inputs. Most of the information from my research is coming from ducati forum and some from BMW forum. Thanks for any advice and input..
It depends on what rapidbike model you are using, I remember there were three types: easy, evo and racing.
If you want fully customizable params for your engine, use racing.
Also, I think you will need to contact a rapidbike engineer to help you custom tune the engine. I don't think you can do it with just a pc and software and dyno run. I think it uses a special interface, but I'm not sure about it.
Check their website and see: Rapidbike | Dimsport
Unfortunately I don't have experience with any of the modules on track so I don't know how they perform in comparison with pcv and bazzaz but you have great chances that it performs better. At least here in Europe, their auto tuning software is good, I assume the same for moto. The guys in Germany have experience with rapid bike, if you know German then you're in luck Search the forums.
Thanks for the reply.. I was looking at the racing module for the Rapidbike because of the price difference is not much compared to being able to used it on another bike just buying the harness.
I just finally installed my old rapid bike race module from my 1199R. I had to get a different harness and reprogram it for the R1. The popping stopped with in the first track day. The throttle is still snatchy, but I think I need to have it either de-restricted or flashed. Not sure which way to go with it yet. The rapid bike race module is the best way to go in my opinion..
I installed today the "my tuning bike" with the wideband o2 sensor. My bike feels incredible. I already have flashed my bike so I really wasn´t expecting much more... but damn. much more responsive. Really pleased with it.
Did you set the target AFR for specific RPMS? or did you use the stock presets for the my tuning bike? thanks
