Hey guys/gals I have a question about tuning my 2016 R1 after I put some new exhaust on it. I'm wanting to install a 3/4 Akrapovic system and I've also ordered a Flash Tune bench kit and Auto Blip Downshift Kit. My question is do I still need to get a PCV to get the bike dialed in or can I accomplish that with the Flash Tune kit? I was leaning towards getting a PCV and auto tuner but just wanted to make sure I'm not being redundant?
I have all three on my '14. Flash tune, PCV, and Auto Tune. I use the ftecu for modding ignition timing etc.... Using Tad' s map and I let the PCV ensure the AFR is right.
You don't the PCV/Auto tuner if you get your bike dynotuned on the flash. I would suggest putting on blockoff plates and pulling then plugging the unused O2 sensors. You might be happy with just the ecu flash. If not then the PCV/Auto tuner allows you to customize your bike the way you want it.
I did not like the bike with just a flash. I experienced the 4k-7k rpm surge, choppy throttle and too much decel popping.
