HOW TO: Install a Translogic Dash

Here's what I did when I installed a TL Micro Dash 2 into my 06 R1....

Harness 1

I put the TL temp sensor under the side head bolt...

The TL yellow RPM signal wire spliced into the OEM coil signal wire : grey/green.

The TL speed sensor was a bit of trouble, it didn't work in my kit, and it's big and ugly as well...

After several hours of setting it up only to find out it was useless....I junked it.
I cut off the TL speed sensor plug and isolated/insulated the TL power wire : brown.

I spliced into the OEM speed sensor wires on the ECU side of the sensor, under the tank.

TL : blue - OEM : black/white

TL : black - OEM : pink

I wanted to keep the OEM dash connector so I can use the OEM dash as a diagnostic tool if I need to.

I got a connector plug from an auto parts store (they didn't have an 8 pin so I had to get two 4 pin plugs).

I wired one side of the connectors I'd bought, to the loom after the OEM dash connector.

And wired the other side of the connectors I'd bought to the TL dash.

(I don't have any pics at the moment)

Harness 2

TL High beam : white - OEM : back/yellow

TL Oil Pressure : yellow - OEM : black/red

TL Ground (neg) : black - OEM : Fairing stay bolt

TL Neutral : green - OEM pale blue/white

TL Left Indicator : purple - OEM : dark brown

TL Right indicator : light brown - OEM : dark green

TL Fused 12V supply : red - OEM : pale brown

The TL programming button came with a bracket to attach to the clip-on, I ditched that and fitted it into my switch gear.

Job's a good 'un

That looks pretty sweet...quite a bit cheaper than the Aim dash...didn't look to see it's recording capabilities (if any) though.

Great job on it

Just adding a note I put in Andy's request for install help thread...

There's an important point to take note of, if you connect to the OEM speed sensor.

There are three wires going to the TL speed sensor, power, ground and signal.

Don't connect the TL power wire to the OEM speed sensor power wire.

The ECU detects the fluctuation in the speed sensor power wire, and uses it as info for the EFI (or something like that! )

If you connect the power wires, the ECU will recieve too high a voltage, and think the bike is doing 400MPH, and flood it with fuel. The engine will not run under about 3000rpm.

Just cut the TL power wire short, tape the end, fold it over and shrinkwrap it. Or remove the pin and wire from the TL plug altogether.

You don't need it for the dash to operate, you only need the signal and ground wires.

(I learned this the hard way!)
