Here is a video on how to do it. I think you have to cut the baffling so it's a trade off. If you shorten your muffler - you will make it louder. No way around it.
When I did mine (yoshi) I cut 10 inches off the end. I removed ALL the baffling that was needing to be replaced already and got fresh material. 1 inch thick by 11 by 14. I rolled the material around the baffle, cut the excess and slid it on. I didn't go with any steel whool like it originally had as it takes a bit of sound deadening away. This pipe is a tad bit louder at high rpm's but at idle she is low and nice.
