Attention - Upcoming Password Changes

Hello Everyone,

Per the latest announcements we will be resetting everyone’s passwords. Shortly you should be receiving an email directing you how to change your password. It will look like this:

Quote:
Quote:
Subject: Your new password for *site name*
Dear *username*,

Your password has been reset by an administrator. Your new details are as follows:

Username: *username*

Password: *Randomly generated temp password*

To change your password, please visit this page: *link to password reset edit page from USERCP*

If you suspect this email is a scam, you can confirm the legitimacy of this email by manually navigate to the forum URL yourself and use your new password to log in.

All the best,

As you can see it will give you a randomly generated temporary password, as well as telling you where you need to go to updated it accordingly.

If you do not receive this email please go to the contact us page and select Other, and type in Security Password Update Issues

We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

I received no email, actually when I tried to login it kept saying I was entering my password incorrectly and locked me out of the system even though I was trying to go and reset it. Finally got it reset this morning, kinda a hassle though.

I just got back in myself.

Marcelo is waiting for the 15 minutes to expire so he can reset. No prior notification in either case.

Wow, been locked out of the account since last night.

Password reset wasn't working, no emails were being sent even with the "forgot my pass option".

It just started working and working right away as it should.

What I did was tried to login, got an error saying password isn't correct, followed the "forgot my pass" option, and then from the email I received, got a new password emailed out, and then changed the password to my desired password.

Hopefully others who are locked out of their accounts like me get to read this and fix it. I know of a few members who had this issue as well.

The best part is how there has been no mention of the fact that 45 million accounts that were compromised due to hacks from the databaase side, that "may contain an email address, a username, an IP address, one password and in some cases a second password."

Why? It is public information and quite honestly should have been shared with the users.

and that's why everybody should have a dedicated email address and pwd for accessing these so called "secure" websites. Most common threat is they get hacked and you're exposed with many other online access points otherwise.

Just saying it...

hey all,

The article fails to mention that the breach was for a third party plugin. This breach is on countless sites across the internet and not just limited to ours.
We cleared our part of the breach and went this route to further security. This is also in place as many members on the internet use the same or similar passwords across all things they use.

We cannot go into detail at the moment as it is being dealt with on a legal level.

this is what happens when you fill your site with adds and adds and more adds. it's a playground for hackers. this isnt' the first time one of your adds has been compromised. one of them took me to a site that firefox had flagged as dangerous.

The point of my post was not to place blame, but to inform the membership that a breach took place. I don't care who is to blame, but the users should have been informed that the reason a password change was being enforced was because of a security breach on the database level.

If more people, like yourself, contributed to the forum, they wouldn't need as many ads.

I got the email, pretty sure that sending out usernames and passwords in a clear text email is making matters worse....
Can't see how I can change my password on the site on a mobile though.
