My scanner wont pick up my timeslip but I will give you the exact numbers
60ft 1.4889
330ft 4.0242
594ft 5.7512
1/8th 6.1390
MPH 116.03

I'm 22 years old 6'5 190lbs suited and have race at Outer Banks Speedway in Creswel, NC. My best 60ft is a 1.46.

The 6.13 pass was the last of the 07 season. My first race of the 08 season is on March 15th. For this season the bike has received the following mods:

Brocks Sidewinder
Custom Map
Air Shifter
2.5lb Bottle
40 Dry Shot

I will post my times the weekend of the race and hope to run 5.7s with my new setup. The only advice I have for R1 riders is if you wanna go fast get a busa but if you want a challenge keep racing the R1. Its all in the launch. Let your clutches cool between rounds and make sure you are at a track that is well prepared. If the track is right then leave like you're going to the moon and keep those 60fts low. If anyone has any questions just get at me and I'd be glad to answer them.
ok i understand it's all in the launch, but what if i can't get it to launch. i just started racing my 06 r1, before that i raced an 03 r1 that if i may say so myself was hella fast from the line. So you can imagne my frustrations from pullin below a 1.5 for my 60 ft to this past sunday pullin a 2.2 to start then progressively to a 1.8 still slow. i was playing around with it tring to find the sweet spot for the clutch to grab but all it did was bog, and i know you are gonna say leave harder, at a higher rpm. well is 7000 to 7500 high enough for ya? this might not sound high to you, but if i launched my 03 that high it would loop no doubt. My 06 isn't that much diffrent from yours.

it's got:
-1/+3
pc3 and has been dyno tuned/maped
BMC AIR FILTER
Scorpion Exhaust(slip on)
bolt on Extensions 6-8 set at 6" out

the bike would launch better if i sliped the clutch instead of dumping it. and looking at your numbers even though my launch sucks right now, my bike never ran less that 117 the whole day when trapping so i know when powerband kicks in it's badass, but the first 60ft is when its won or lost. i don't know why and frankly it pissed me off so could you tell me what you think it could be since you have a simalar bike.

use your extensions, and practice. You don't seem to have the axle back that far in the extensions. Get a longer chain and bring it back, as long as you have a decent tire you won't spin and it'll help keep your front end down. How are you launching? what rpm and are you slidin it or just dumping it? You really just need to practice, especially on launching and shifting, your 60' and mph are kinda slow. If you didn't get it through reading this, PRACTICE.

Took my '07 R1 last night for the first time and it was totally different (torque) from my 'Busa, B12 and ZX12 before. I think I have to change my launching rpm's. Bogged the whole time and only ran a best of 10.89@133. (stock on pump gas, strapped). Any tips besides I have to have more seat time on this bike. I want to keep it stock but maybe just a bolt-on extension.

Boy, seat time is the answer! From 10.89@133 to 10.04@138 launching it now at 7-8K rpm's. Still all stock on pump gas except lowered and strapped. Hoping for some 9's on this bike soon.

I have a 2001 with 60,000 miles on her. You just need to work on feathering the clutch on the launch, so you can get off the line at a higher RPM without wheeling like crazy. Last month I ran my best time of 6.89. I hope to get into the 6.7 range this Saturday. Just keep practicing.

New nitrous kit on 05 R1

1LongR1... I have an 05 r1 and have a question as to where you put the nozzle in the airbox. I have a dry ZEX nitrous kit, and I really don't think its a good idea to spray the nitrous through the air filter seeing as how cold it is, not sure if it will freeze the filter or not. So I was thinking about putting it on the velocity stack side of the air box facing upwards to hit the airbox lid then distribute itself down into the stacks. I am hoping that this will allow it to distribute it more evenly to the cylinders. I am curious as to how you have it set-up. Any advise or pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

i have wet kit. so i have 4 nozzles stuffed into airbox. actually i used 90 degree aluminum strap about 1inch by 1 inch to pop riveted into top of airbox and lines thru holes in front side of airbox. i have some pics somewhere, but ill have to find them and post them. but nitrous wont freeze airfilter. with jet not much comes out anyways. but depends on location. thru filter is softer easier hit than past filter. but past filter give more power. u will loose a little from going into filter.

Guess I might as well throw my best on here...

Here is my best to date, Aug 20th, 2008 at New England Dragway in Epping NH.

60........1.594
330......4.069
1/8th.....6.098@120.35mph
1000.....7.881
1/4........9.416@146.50mph

mods: 6" bolt on extensions, 520 chain w/ 16/47 sprockets, BMC air filter, split head gasket, cat-delete, stock mufflers shortened and home brew baffles, stock header with exup removed., forks slid up ~3/4", strapped and lowered,

I plan on shedding a few pounds from the bike, gearing it a bit more, and reverse shift pattern for the next time to the track. I'm still foot shifting, and still riding the bike to the track. Hopefully next month I'll be able to get that 60' down a bit, and see some 9.30s. Hell, if I can shed some weight, and get the 60s down to lower 1.5s, I might even see some upper 9.20s!!!

well, I got to the track again last Wed and shattered my previous best, so I figure I might as well post it here.

60'.......1.527
330'......3.939
1/8th.....5.956@120.98mph
1000'.....7.717
1/4mile...9.224@149.30mph

I backed it up with a 9.25 pass. Same mods as last time, except with 16/49 gearing. I also shed about 5lbs of weight between the luggage rack and passenger pegs. I ran with reverse shift pattern for a couple runs, but started bending the piss out of a bolt and put it back to regular shift pattern. I was also running a bit more tire pressure in the rear. 30psi!! again, the track prep was excellent.

I've been using 91 pump, but might put some U4 in the tank next time. I'm running out of tricks to throw at the bike. It's almost time for a real swingarm, and an airshifter.

Thanks man. The DA was +1300, so not that great, but not terrible. Best I ever raced in was -700 in my Camaro, so hopefully we will get some of that in late October/early November. It needs more gear, a dyno tune, and a new clutch with stiffer springs. I would love to tear into the motor but no one is doing these Yamaha motors. I assume it is because it is new. I'll prolly throw an air shifter on it and keep it on motor. I run the 9.50 Super Stock class at Byron for 2WheelSpeed.

R105 is stock with just a head gasket swap. Kick shiftin', no spray or motor work. He's giving me the competition I like. We go back and forth via PM and exchange secrets. Good guy. It's a lot of fun.
