Hi all! I'm thinking about replacing my '03 R1 with the 04 or maybe 05 (depends on the European deliveries) What's your opinion about that? I'm in love with the '05 Raven, but it won't come to Europe as far as I know. So it's the Red, or the silver, which, of course, isn't the case. The case is that '03 is a 100% trustworthy piece of machinery the new one is a Top Gun :boom , but is it quite un-troubled? Thank you for your time. Your answer will be more than helpful, because you RIDE IT, they SELL it :) :owwn3d RapidShade Athens, Greece

your 03 is getttgin old.besides the 05 is already on its way to the dealers soon. so go with the 05. now go! you know you want it. but im pretty sure you have doubts . it could be of many reasons. i have one thing to say though. the 04 05 is the sexiest machine ever to exist.

Unless you really have a hair up your arse to get a new ride I think you should stay with your 2003. They are a very reliable generation R1, and I doubt you ever have a problem with it. The 04, 05 R1's are indeed the sexiest bike to date I cannot deny that but its Yamaha's first shot at the undertail exhaust and it needs some refinement IMO. Everyone agrees that its hot as hell and uncomfortable. The midpipe needs to be routed/hidden better. And that idle cutoff problem that some people are having would suck to deal with. In 2006 the R1 should be due for a revamp and I don't know how but they will find a way to make it sexier, they always do. So enjoy your 03 for another 12 months and see if you can't benefit from some improvements in 06. :riding
