bodean 10-10-2004, 09:50 AM My skins are getting a little slick. I want new ones for next season. I have dunlops now, always have. I was thinking of switching and want to know what everyone is on out there. I was thinking either pirelli or avon.
also I have a brand new D207 in my closet for about 2 years now. bought it as a set and never needed it. i read some where that time is an enemy to the rubber compound as well so it is probably no good anymore. am I right??
The R1 Kid 10-12-2004, 04:39 PM i roll on pirelli slicks soft compound. they kick ass:rock
velocityboy 10-12-2004, 04:50 PM I thought this was going to be about condoms
clintb 10-12-2004, 04:50 PM Trojan, extra long.
Oops, wrong rubber. Stockers right now, but probably Michelin Pilot Powers when they go.
clintb 10-12-2004, 04:51 PM Damn you velocityboy, ya beat me to it!
bodean 10-13-2004, 05:41 PM :jump :butt so.... clintb you ride the extra long ones huh???
I heard good things about the pilot powers. I haven't been able to find any articles on how the different tires perform on different sportbikes. ie handling etc.

Pirellis here for the time...gonna try a set of pilot powers depending on how some other members feel about them.
as it would turn out I am trying the regular diablos and not the corsa'a this time around....and am as happy as ever...140+ mph and they havent failed me yet
R1R00kie 10-13-2004, 07:55 PM Ran 2 sets of Dunlop 208s, now running Diablo Corsas. Just got a chance to go out and run them pretty hard and they are much better.

bodean 10-15-2004, 06:04 PM Thanks for the info gents:thumbup keep it coming. any one running Avon or metzlers? nobody seems to be big fans of Dunlop.
except Yamaha. what are the '04 and '05 r-1's running? are different tires better suited for different brands of bikes. oh yeah, can I just check what brand the Yamaha racers are on and just get the street version?
BIFFERONE 10-15-2004, 06:14 PM Pirelli Diablo Corsas

metzeler is a co division of pirelli now....more or less the same tire with a seperate brand name.
there are always 2 kinds of compounds....OEM(you can ask for it----I wouldnt)
or the dunpop 208 gp series..same exact tire only stickier
I would look at investing in a better than a oem tire
the 05/05 is running a dunpop 218---the sposed sucessor to the 208
personally speaking...I really enjoyed the dunlop 207 RR(race replica)..those were pretty good for me and still come standard on some bikes and are highly regarded as a good tire
NEPAR1 10-15-2004, 08:12 PM diablo supers, just switched to diablos today butt it is raining and cold so I will let you know how I like The SCs were awesome
whiplash 10-16-2004, 09:39 PM I'm running M1's now, not impressed. Liked the 208's better

Nope, there is a slight difference in profile as well as the compound. Thats a net myth about them being the same tire. Thats the info direct from Metzler.

bodean 10-20-2004, 04:50 PM coryperez:thumbup great article. thanks for all the replies---> I think it is going to be the Diablos or the pilot powers
bodean 11-08-2004, 09:21 PM ok so what about this....michelin pilot sports VS pilot powers... VS...pirelli diablos VS diablo corsas
coreyperez 11-09-2004, 06:42 AM ok so what about this....michelin pilot sports VS pilot powers... VS...pirelli diablos VS diablo corsas
Two Options:
You buy all the tires and i'll let you know what i think...
OR!!!
We should get 4 riders with the same bikes, get the suspensions setup, and each rider take the bike out and safely flogg it :rock
It would be like a real bike comparison.
Any takers? I'll offer up mine as long as the other 3 guys know what they hell they are doing! Each guy would be responsible for what they are riding.
Any body in SLC UT area wanna give this a run?
~P
bodean 11-11-2004, 06:46 AM :hellobye wanna come out to NY for the weekend
Skard 11-12-2004, 01:46 AM I'm looking for some new tires as well. What exactly are the specs for those of you who aren't running the oems anymore.
Shrike 11-12-2004, 03:02 AM Pirelli Supercorsa's F10 rear and F0655 front for me :hellobye
kochatzi 11-17-2004, 07:44 AM i changed the pilot power tyres i used to have on with a couple of pirelli corsas.they are so much better!
goodriddance 11-18-2004, 09:57 PM I hated the dunflops took them off after 800 miles.
and it's been nothing but Michelin H2's since.
crammer1977 11-19-2004, 08:39 AM I run Diablo Corsas; however, I run a good bit of track days. I wouldn't recommend them for the street. Even though they offer tremedous grip they wear out fast! If I was running just a street up street tire with no track days then I would just save the money and get the plain jane Diablo.
BTW, I'm not impressed with Dunlop either.
kochatzi 11-19-2004, 09:33 AM i have n't tried any dunlops but the corsas are very good for both street and track use.i admit that the wear off quickly but that is something to expect when they grip so well!!
Kilowatts 11-21-2004, 12:35 AM So what sort of mileage WILL you get from a set of Pirelli Diablo Corsa's on the rear versus normal Diablo's?
Normal riding....(yes I know that is subjective!)...
jdm
kochatzi 11-21-2004, 02:45 PM the mileage of the corsas are about 3200 miles, but i don't think that is for normal use.i don't get that many miles if i get some trackdays...but i ride them hard at corners
bradsr1 12-02-2004, 08:43 PM M1s, I love these tires!!!!
