I wouldn't mind getting a job in Germany with Lockheed-Martin..how's the cost of living over there?

AF_COP

the cost of living in germany in one word.... high... its no joke, its seems really high compared to the states, with the exhange rate, and 16% sales tax.. its high, but i dont know how the wages are in compared to the cost of living... so i really cant say... for example though.. gas... its close to 5.00 a gallon after you do all the converting...

But : you get 1000s of years of european history and culture and a whole load of other stuff. example destination for a bike tour is not the worlds largest ball of twine, its say a 2000 year old stadium, where the romans ran chariot races or a 500 year old castle that you can feel the history in. admittedly if you want to live american style (big steaks and SUVs, v8 gas guzzlers, etc), then the best place for that is america. but most importantly, most companies in europe give you 6 weeks holiday a year. not your 2 weeks. 6 weeks. thats 6. :jump and in france a 35 hour working week is normal. Think about how much extra biking time that gives you. oh and in germany we also have autobahns, many stretches have no speed limit whatsoever. :thumbup

I don't know how it is for the air force but there should be a way to take a msf course where you are. I was able to take one in Kitzigen through the army. Try talking to your safety officers, or contact vehicle regristration or drivers, testing they should be able to point you in the right direction.

hey is anyone intrested in getting out on the race track? Hockenhiem race way is open every thursday evening for 4 euro to get in the door and 14 euro for 15 min on the track. I know its kind of pricey but it could be some good fun. I know I could learn a bit from a little track time. I'm thinging the 26 of may or the 2 of june if the weather is nice.

Are you going to hockenheim? how far from the track are you guys? I think that I will only go on the weekends that I have taken leave because it is a ways away and if anything happens to the bike I will not make it home. I'll get some contact info from you when I'm going to go and maybe i'll see you.

im pretty sure thats the name of the track that we will be going to, if it is its about a hour or less away, depending on traffic on autobahn etc... ill double check to make sure its the same track...

Anyone near Landstuhl? My dad is stationed there for the year and there's a good chance I might be flying out to visit him for a week or so sometime this year. :beer

I live on Landstuhl now. Nice riding near here Anubis. We missed each other in AZ when I was visiting, but if you visit here, I know a place that can rent you a bike for 85 a day as long as you have a stateside endorsement and a passport. If I know a few weeks in advance I can borrow a bike from a friend and loan you my 07 ZX-10R and we can check out the local roads and head over to Nuremburg Ring and do a few laps. I'm sure I can find a set of leathers to fit you and a helmet as well. Boots may be a problem though. LOL

If my re-enlistment package goes through, I most likely won't be coming over. :(
