i just bought a 99 R1 and love it. i used to own a 00 F4. i was wondering if i am going to hurt anything by not using the clutch when shifting. it seems very smooth when i do this, but i don't want to hurt anything:thumbup all help is greatly appreciated.

I assume you are shifting up when you say this i.e. 1->2->3 etc. If so, and you are just blipping the throttle between shifts, then no problems.

Down gears is more difficult and probably not advisable. Missed gears and nasty crunching noises are not good.

Generally speaking though, if it is snicking into gear nice and smooth then carry on.....

Its faster anyway!

Blipping the throttle for clutchless upshifts?? Why???

Just shutting the throttle for a fraction of a second to take the tension of the gearbox. Not the same as blipping the throttle for downshifts, but a change in throttle/hand position none the less.

What, you mean you just slam the gear lever through without releasing the throttle, even for a fraction of a second.

Now THAT will f**k the gearbox, assuming you don't miss the gear anyway

thanks for the info guys. guess i should have explained better though:iamwithst what i do is upshift with no clutch by waiting until i am in higher rpm rang and slightly let off the gas. this allows me to slide right into the next gear without any funny noises and it is alot faster which is always good:thumbup
