East Coast Convention possible dates

Ok, this is the very preliminary stages of getting things going for the 2005 East Coast Convention at Deal's Gap. I just saw the 2005 AMA Superbike schedule. So for now these dates are NO good due to conflict of AMA racing. April 29-May 1 May 13-15 May 21-22 June 3-5 June 25-26 So let's hear some suggestions on some other dates. I can't guarantee anything because it depends on lots of factors but will do my best to listen to everyone. Also I want to hear suggestions of length of stay too. Chad

Im all for just making a date and making everyone plan around it...otherwise you get a bunch of people saying this and that to why they cant..but when its set in stone, everyone manages to get the time off!

Any date is cool with me, we will have plenty of time to work out time off. I'd like to stay for 5 days:rock

The date is not the big deal, just as long as it is set in stone from the beggining, Lets make a date and stay with it. As far as length of stay, last year was nice Wed - Sun, this year lets go for Tues - Sun. GaWarrior, you did an awesome job earlier this year on it, Im sure next years will be just the same.

why not go for around the same time in June as last year? seemed to work for everyone last year.

Like I said this is early in the game, but I wanted to hear some input. I will have to weigh all the factors, but once I come up with a date then it will most definately be set in stone. I agree with everyone else, just make a date and let everyone know. People should be able to get the time off.

I think I will make a few more trips next year . If we ride dirt bikes enough this winter we will be ready to ride the R1's when spring arrives ! How was your trip to Durhamtown ?

Got some cool new trails and the MX track is really long and cool now. I even got Rob likeing the MX track now. WE are going tomorrow to one below my house. I hit so many trees at Durham on Tuesday that my barkbusters feel off.:lol No kidding. I got to either get new ones or find some new bolts to hold them on.

June 9-12th, this is a little warmer for us up here. Last year was great.

i like the idea of june im going to try and get the same cabin becuase it was a nice meeting place for the slower riders to meet up and go ride. i the june thing is the best most of us have school or somethin college sucks. for everyone else i will be starting a keg collection for us :)

Chad, I'm in with everyone else as far as June. Perhaps the same time as last years convention. I'm going to stay a full week this time. I think once we set a date then everyone will have ample time to ask for those days off. I suggest we bounce some dates around during the holidays then around the first week of January we set it in stone. This will give everyone a good six months to get the time off from work. As far as the duties go you may want to post a list of what needs to be done to make this another success. I'm willing to take on my part of those duties. I'd love to see it get more media attention in a positive way of what sport bike riding is all about.

Shane has some pretty good media connections so I will talk with him about doing a more detailed story this year. I will post a thread once we have a date to get volunteers for specific duties. I missed last years event, so my vote really doesn't count, but I vote for June anyway. I also have to agree with what others have said, pick a date and hopefully the ones who want to come will figure out a way to make it happen. You can't please everyone. I will probably make a three or four day weekend out of it, to many other trips, Mardi Gras in Feb, Track Day in March, Ozarks in May, R1 Forum (June?), Family vacation in June or July, Laguna Seca in July, to damn hot in August, several dirt bike trips, and a couple of other things in between. Besides, if I can go to the Gap for four days and not get a ticket, or run off the road by some bonehead in his Camaro, I'll chalk that up as a win for team Womack. Count me in for help if you need it. Mark

Looks like it will be in June sometime. Now I just have to nail down the exact dates. I know once I do that then folks can make plans. I just wanted to get a good idea of when everyone wanted to go, from the responses we will do it in June again. So plan for june sometime.

yup, that dye worked sweet.... still on there pretty good. Some of it came off when I went down in Aug and left nice blue streaks on the road :lol Talk about "leaving your mark". I'm gonna try and make it down next year. I had a ball, even though I left the Saturday. I dunno if I'm gonna ride down this time though, that was pretty insane... 180km/h for 10 hours to get home, half of it in the pouring rain... man, that was quite a ride.

And Fontana will hook us up again. They were already talking to me about 05 last June. I will have to call them soon to talk to them about when we will get there to get on the calender.

Ok. The dates have been set. I just got off the phone with John at Fontana. We will set aside the week of June 13-19th. This is the week after the FZ-1 group, so we will set up where they were last year. Lots more room for us to gather and set up. IMPORTANT----As of right now the hotel is already full with a church group for the week. Not sure about the weekend. So looks like cabins will be all that will be available. But from mine and others experiance in the past, you would rather be in a cabin anyway. And there are pleny of those available. If you want to make resevations, wait until next week at the earliest so Fontana can get it set up in their computers Lastly, I will start an Official thread either this weekend or first of next week with more details an a list of what I need help with. and this will also be in the Forums Coventions/Events Section. But all of those looking for a set date to take off it is the week of June 13-19th. Chad
