Dymag wheels

Bought a set of Dymag 5-spokes for my R1. First impressions....nice wheels. VERY light, and nicely finished. When I bought them, they were gold. I wanted black wheels. So I had them stripped and powdercoated. I didn't get them clear-coated, and when the tires were mounted, a bit of the powdercoating chipped around the front wheel bead area. Not a big deal. What IS a big deal, however, is the fitment of the front rotors and the rear sprocket. The front rotors mount via an adapter plate. This plate is a large, solid, relatively unattractive piece of aluminum. Removing these plates reveals a six-bolt pattern underneath. I wanted to install Ducati rotors that mount directly to the hub, but they don't fit! After a few calls to Dymag, they told me that the hub has a "special" bolt pattern. The rear sprocket was even more of a bummer. I had already ordered a brand-new AFAM sprocket, anticipating that it would bolt right up. Not even close. That was another series of phone calls and wrong parts before I ended up with a ZX-9 rear sprocket that finally fit. Brand-new Dymags will come with a Talon sprocket for a 530 chain. Anyway, after mounting them and getting out on the road, I couldn't be happier. All the usual traits of using a lightweight magnesium wheel. So, in summary, I like them. They are kind of oddball, but after you get past that, you'll be satisfied. :thumbup

I started this thread a while back, that documents the whole project.... [http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94547&perpage=20&pagenumber=5] You can see the wheels pretty good in most of these shots. If you guys think I should post closer detail shots, let me know! :) I'm pretty sure both you guys have seen that thread before.....
