So I finally did it. I called up and ordered a Scorpio Alarm. They STILL offered up the R1-Forum special, and told me to pass along the fact that the special is still available if you mention the R1-Forum!!!
Install was quick and easy with the instructions provided in the How-To article on the forum. Thanks fastprof!
The only splicing I needed to do was the taillight wires, as I didn't get the anti-hijack feature, but did get the perimeter sensor, battery backup, and R1 Harness for the talked about $300.
I have been using it and it works great! The peace of mind is priceless, and the ease of use is incredible. One button turns on the alarm w/ perimeter. The other turns it off. The third button turns on the alarm w/out perimeter. I have used it both ways many times in the last week, and so far, I am very pleased.
I definitely recommend it if you are paranoid about people getting on your bike or standing it up. I lost my VFR to some punks who got on my bike and tipped it over, totalling it out. Also, just a month or so ago, I was told by security at a business, that they saw 2 twenty-somethings walk by my R1, get on it, and get off and walk away. That sealed it for me. I can't stand the idea of someone doing that again, so knowing that the alarm will chirp them away from considering that action, is definitely worth it in my mind.
You can't go wrong with this alarm. My battery has not shown any affects of it, and I haven't had a false alarm yet. Thanks for everyone that gave me their opinions and information on this alarm in a previous thread. It definitely helped me make my decision.
Thanks again!
