I'm looking for a tank bra, mag bra, sticker kit, whatever anyone can suggest to me to protect my tank from my leathers eating it up. I'm specifically looking for someone who has experience with any suggested product. Thanks

Can't speak from personal experience, but I was considering the tankslapper clear adhesive for the tank area for my soon to be 05. There were some photos (do a search) and they look ... transparent, and seems really good. I too am still interested in hearing other people's opinions.

Did a search... found nothing concrete positive or negative about the clear adhesive types. So, I went and bought the "ClearBra" (advertiser on this board). I open the box and it's got a 5 star installer requirement. For the hell of it I tried one of the headlight pieces, following all the directions, and it is IMPOSSIBLE for anyone who is not experienced. I contacted the company and they are looking for a local install source in my area. Meanwhile, I'm doing Palomar this weekend and need protection!

Get some number plate back ground sheets from your local dealer and cut your own. It's very heavy duty vinyl (12-15 mil). You can make some paper templates in order to get a truly custom fit and when you're happy with it, just cut out the patterns on the vinyl. I have some that I made from a carbon look sheet. If you want, I can take some pics for you. It really looks great and has been on the bike for about 14,000 miles with no signs of wearing through. Best part of all is that if it does wear through or you get tired of a particular design, just take it off and make a new one. The sheets come in carbon look and just about any other color you can think of. Scott

That is a 'different' fitment?.... Mine was cut to the shape of the tank. I like the look of that road, Fire and I have been back on forth on riding, maybe I should come down there...

You can also go to Office Depot or Office Max and get magnetic sheets that are roughly 9"x12". You can cut out whatever shape you need. www.darice.com part number 1195-02 A buddy of mine uses these and they work just like the Mag Knight stuff, but it's a lot cheaper.

If you order anyhting from magnite or get anything magnetic to protect your tank.......I will personally come to your house and beat you with a stick!!!! A real big stick that says louisville on it!!!! What I'm trying to say in a polite way is don't freaking go with magnite!!!! I did and it was a POS!!!!!and a waste of money!!!:yesnod

I, too, had a bad experience with Mag Knight and will NEVER recommend them to anyone. I personally feel that my suggestion of the number plate background is the best solution. It's 100% custom, comes in a variety of colors, can be made in ANY shape you want, and is easily changed if you want a new look for your bike.

One more. This give you the general idea. I really like it since it's easy, durable, completely custom and easily changed if I decide I like a different design or need more/less coverage.

Thanks for the pic's guys. Scott, I PM'd you earlier about the pic's but didn't know you already posted them ... looks good :thumbup So what's the deal with the magnetic stuff? Does it move and tear the paint up anyway?

I just got the 1/2 tank bra from Targa. Its the carbon fiber looking material. The fit is excellent, and it comes off (and on) in about 15 seconds. Im very happy with it ! :thumbup :)

Check it out LINK (http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=106201) to the clear bra I just had installed. It covers the tank perfectly as well as most other forward facing plastic pieces on the front.
