Ok, So far no one has really volunteered to take over the job for getting t-shirts for the convention. I have been doing a little research. There seem to be a couple of options. First, we can get a design and get someone to print them up and bring them to the convention like Kneedragger77 did last year.

Second option, which I think would work out really good is to get Ron and Nancy from www.tailofthedragon.com do them. They do this all the time and already have several designs. And they told me they can incorporate anything we want with the Dragontail designs they already have or then can do them completely custom if we want. And if they could get an order of 96 or me then they would give us a much better price than is listed normally on their shirts. They would need to have all orders in at least 3 weeks ahead of time to insure that they will be ready when we get there. And they would deliver them to Fontana for us.

Now here is the t-shirts they have.

As I said, we can incorporate any design or wording we want and also do completely custom if we want.

I probably wont make the forum event this year, but I've ordered from the shop who supplied the shirts last year quite a few times since then. Whereas we were paying $18 to $20 a shirt last year, I've got the hook up on discounts now.

GXRKLR, if you decide you dont want to go with tailof thedragon the shop I used can get shirts like we had last year (with similar or slightly different design) for about $8 a piece. Thats $10 off last year's price.

I could probably get him to drop ship them to you.

Just thought to toss that out there

Nope, not yet. I think what design we go with will determine who we order them from and that will determine if we can get hoodies. But I see no reason why we can't get them no matter who we order from. Most of the price is the screen print set up, which is determined by the number of colors used, they dont care if they are printing it on tshirts, hoodies, socks, plates or what ever. It still takes the same set up.

As June is still pretty chilly, especially at night up in the mountains Im more leaning towards Sweat Shirt/Hoodie.

Yep, it's still cool in the mountains, especially at night. I've got a collection of Gatlinburg sweatshirts that I've had to buy to keep warm on the trip back to the Gap. I never seem to learn.

I like both ideas! But I'm still high on the Sweat Shirt. If I get a polo I most likely will not wear it much.

Cant' wear it in the office, not going to wear it riding, so unless I worked at a dealership (which will not happen in this life) the polo would not do much for me.

Don't worry about that, since I used to do screen printing I'm a stickler on that kind of stuff when it comes to my T's.

1. I do t-shirts all the time for people, so if you want to know prices on good shirts just PM me.
2.I can do any type of stitched designs, ie embroiderd polo's, hats, sweatshirts etc.
And no charge other than cost on anything, plus possibly donating some.
3. total lead time is about 4 weeks.
4. screenprinting is cheapest, and probably good for t-shirts, but i'd like embroidered other items if they are available.

5. IF, i can get some pre-orders, i would be happy to font the cst and bring stuff with me..................

I think everyone was happy with the Venom Hats as far as I know, so you should be able to see the quality from them...

Let me know if anybody is interested.

1. I can do any type of apparel, luggage, golf towels, etc.
2. Anything that has R1-Forum on it, would need to be OK'd by the Admin's. They own it. And I respect that.
3. Customizing can get a little more expensive, but is possible.

I would suggest for hats, a simple Dragon wrapped around the R1 logo on the front, with the date on the back. That is unless of course ADmin's are okay with the R1-Forum usage.........

I'm looking for some ideas for some hats and stuff for the convention.

Here's what i came up with as a possibility.
take the dragon from www.tailofthedragon.com
and photoshop it around the R1 logo.

OR

Take the dragon from www.tailofthedragon.com and photoshop it around an R1 bike.

OR something you can come up with better......


It needs to be about 3.5" x 3.5 inches to fit well on a hat, and also on sweatshirts or other items.......

Ya, after I met you I had to make a solo night run into Robinsville (everyone else was already too drunk to ride). That was one of the scarier trips of my life, only had one headlight. I had to visit the bank machine so I could pay for the cabin before I headed home the next morning. That sucked too... I was all about leaving at 9am... the only thing is that the gas station at the CROT doesn't open 'till 10. So I had to wait around at the bottom of the dragon for an hour for the gas bar to open. Good thing Jason was up early or I woulda' been really bored.
The ride down was awesome, and I would do it again in a second. The ride home, however, sucked ass. Only took me 10 hours though... stopping every 2 hours for gas and the odd bathroom break.

Depends on the quality of the hat itself. If it looks cheap then I wouldn't pay a dime for it. Here is an example of a cheap hat.

And the venom hat owners should be able to point this out!


I only use Yupoong Flex-Fit hats.

An that second hat is very similar.
And they would be about $20-25 depending on how much embroidery is on them.....

Check the venom hats thread in the venom squadron for some rough ideas.

That is of course if people want any hats at all.......

Yes the Venom hats:rock. Excellent quality for sure. I wear mine all the time. It is probably the best fitting hat I have and best looking too. But like Budha said, that is only if we do hats. We have to figure out the shirts first:fact

Buckmaster, I have to agree with that. I have always heard the people that like to actually ride call it the Gap. Myself included. We always say we are going on a Gap trip, not a Dragontail trip:lol. But I have heard the folks you are talking about say they are riding the dragon. I guess it doesn't really matter though, everyone goes up there to have fun.:yesnod

That will look good with some color variations.

Any other ideas? Keep posting them, nothing is near being set yet, I'm still fishing for ideas.

I just got off the Phone with SpidermanSS. He has some things in mind for the design of the t-shirt. He is going to work on it and post it up soon. It should be pretty cool. It will incorporate both the East Coast Convention and the West Coast Convention. I am sure it will :rock

I'm working with Budha on the sweat shirts and hats. Those will be seperate from the Tshirts since those will be embroidered. The price will depend on how many are ordered. it's a very good chance that the sweatshirts will not look like the T's. Since there is only a few of us that want them, those few will decide how they look and they won't have the sponsors on them. I still need to check with Shane ot see fi we can use the R1-forum on them as well.

Okay, I'm with Voodoo on the hooded sweatshirts, I think they would be killer. I'd be willing to pay the extra money for sure.

If people didn't like the sweatshirt idea, what about some long sleeve thin cotton shirts? (can you tell I live in the land of ice and snow...lmao).

I like the dragon Kevap posted up, I think it would look cool in silver and black, on a white tee shirt. On the flip side, I think it would look good as a silver dragon on a black tee shirt too. I liked the way we had the sponsors on the back, looked really nice.

Just an idea, but if we did long sleeve shirts, we could put the sponsors on the arms, and the dragon, or R1-forum logo across the upper back (providing it is cool to use R1-forum with the mods). oh oh, and maybe a small sportbike and rider on the front chest area draggin a lil knee?

Just some ideas....I'll toss more out later. (i'm not very creative, but I'll try).

All we would have to do is change the writing on it a little. Like where it says Venom at the top in red we could put East Coast R1 Convention. Where the R1-016 is in black letters we could put Deal's Gap 2004. We would of course keep the forum address on the bottom. Then on the back of the shirts we would list all the convention sponsors who made donations. I don't have any real photoshop skills, so if anyone knows what they doing might want to give it a try. The tee shirts last year were ok, but rather bland in a way. As for the sweat shirts I'd probably never wear it here in South Central Florida, but

There's much better programs out there to do this with. I just did a quickie with MS photoeditor. Someone could easily put a fender eliminator on it before its converted to a sketch and I guess color could be added.

I haven't been able to draw up a design that I'm happy with as far as the cool factor goes. How about a shirt like this with a picture as the main graphic on the back along with the sponsors of the rally. Then a smal dragon I have drawn on the front left breast with East coast convention R1-forum.com '05 blah ...blah...blah over top over it and beneith it. Something like that anyway. Then what ever design we use for the pocket area woudl be the same thing embroidered on the hoodies by Budha.

I would have to see an actually picture. Not a fan of this idea though. I will still support no matter what.

I'll have a better one after this weekend but this is all I could do at work with MS paint. This, with "R1 Forum" over the top then "East Coast Convention" underneith and "2005" under that.

they look great...i def will order one now....any word on teh sweatshirt desgin...or is it gonna be roughly the same

I had considered the front of the shirts with or w/o the 2005 for the sweat shirt emgroidered by R1budah. So far there has only been 4 or 5 request for seatshirts so the set up fee would be divided among those shirts which winds up being pretty expensive. It's about the same price as having them silk screened.

So far I have received orders for T-shirts from 10 people counting myself. We need alot more people to order these things to keep the price reasonable.

Can we order and then pay/pick them up at the gap? Or, must we use the pay pal thing? I'd like 2 in large maybe medium if they run large in size. Just asking. Last year I paid and picked it up at the gap.

You can do that but I'd like to have everyone pay that can pay so I'm not putting out several hundered of my own on this.

The same format, there will be alot more names on the back, those were the only one's I could think of off the top of my head. They are not being ordred through custom ink, I just use their site so you didn't have to imagine what it would look like.
