: R1 or ZX 12-R
´
Problems problems problems........I am currently riding a ZX 12-R / 2001 and since we will move I won't bring it with me, instead I am planning on a brand new one.
:yesnod
The big question for me:
R 1 or ZX 12-R?
Looking at it technically, the R1 convinces me more, looking at sheer brutal power I love my Zx 12 monster.....
:bow
Has anybody here ridden both of them? What do you say?
P.S.: Can anyone tell me where that "My R1 eats me" title comes from? Surely not from me....what is that supposed to be?

welcome :hellobye
if u want more resplies u may wana ask this question in the General Motorcycle section. U will get alot more responses there i believe.
R1blade75 12-27-2004, 07:32 PM Well, I have both bikes, a 2004 r1 and a 2000 Zx12. Both bikes are different in their own aspect. The R1 is a sheer hands one racer, light, agile and extremely high reving. The Zx12 on the other hand, has 00mph of torque, comfortable and tremendously fast on top end. I have had the opportunity to race my zx12 (before I brought it from my buddy) and the R1 will pull away up to around 130mph.....The Zx12 would then blow by the R1 after that.
Bottom line, the R1 is a great bike, the Zx12 is extremely comfortable for touring! Either way, they are great bikes.
Yeah, that is pretty much exactly my problem.....but since I can't afford to hurt myself (jobwise) I am thinking of sticking with the ZX 12-R. Since everybody claims the R1 to be the quicker racer I am a little worried that I will go overboard with it.
I am not exactly the anxious type when driving and love to test my limits (don't we all here...? ):p it'll probably be wiser not to opt for the R1. Less power is out of question (once you had it you just can't deal with the boredom of having less power under your butt :sneaky ) and the Suzis and Hondas just don't make my eyes light up when I see them. Boredom on wheels.
Can't wait for that testride though, hopefully I'll stay sane enough not to sign for it right away after my ride.... :riding
ConnmanZX-12R 01-04-2005, 03:56 PM Bro, it depends on what kind of riding you do! If you're into flicking it into corners, clearly the R1 is superior. If blinding speed is what you like, stick with the 12.
But I highly doubt that with equal riders an R1 is going to pull a 12 up to 130. Not enough on the bottom end, and FAR too light to launch like a 12. The R1 just 'aint made for it.
Well, I admit, I am one of those who love to blow away others from the start on, which is absolutely a pleasure with the ZX.
The other fun part is, that I am a "nut-ride" woman, which is the better of the surprises for challengers, when I flick my visor open.
:finger (*lol* Hey Buddy, u just got beaten by a woman.. *ggg*)
Maybe I am a female motorcycle macho(a?).... :sneaky :D
I feel pretty safe on that big phat-ass bike, too. I got "run over" from behind once at a red traffic light (Southshore Boulevard Drive, Sunday afternoon, free and clear sight, 30 mph speed limit and that f...er blew right through me and the light at app. 50 mph....yikes, that one hurt!), so I like to be this huge thing in everybodies mirrors.
Plus, I don't bring much weight on the bike, I am wondering if I am too light for it to hold it down (127 lbs. is not much).
:riding Well, sun is up and shining, I am off, got the new BT014 waiting to be put on and tested......
:fire
