sports panniers

Hi Everyone I am new to the forum, and just to say it is a great one. I owe an R1 2004, and very interested in the oxford sports panniers. I would like to know if anyone have any experience with them. Do they fit without burning the bags. Does anyone have any other suggestion's regarding saddlebags for the R1 Thank you Alon

I've used some 'throwover' panniers for years but found them a problem on the '04 R1.Because the '04's tail section is so wide and flat I found most of the weight of the panniers was on the plastic bodywork,not a good idea.I simply use a large kit bag and strap it secureley to the pillion seat which can take the weight.Something you can't do if you ride 2 up of course.
