I usually dry-heave when I see a katana....but that one doesn't look too bad. What's more important is that YOU like it. It looks like your seat is one piece, rather than two like most late model sport bikes. The two piece seats you just get a rear cowl that snaps on instead of the passenger seat....so I don't know whether or not you could find something like that for an older Katana. Oh and dont ever drop that thing buddy, it looks like it has a one piece fairing! gl

I being an ex-katana owner believe that Targa makes a solo cover for that model year. Just check around some parts sites or ever www.katanaplanet.com im sure you will find it.

i remeber reading a magazine article when they first started making the Katana... they labeled it as the Kawasaki Ninja Sister bike....

wow.. what were they thinking.. dont get me wrong.. they are great bikes and they get the job done.. but even the new ones.. all the ppl i know that buy them, always seem to want more agressive bike the following riding season..

seems the new katana took the path of the old FZR 600...
the affordability issue and all.. ppl that want a new bike and can get a new katana 600 out the door for under 6k....

If you are planning to step up to a new bike in a year or so, save your money to customize the bike you want. I have a 03 YZF 600R I dumped about $1500 in to then I bought my R1, I wish I would have saved that money for the R1. Anyway that is just a thought enjoy your bike.

I use to spank all Katanas on my FZR 600 [except the 1100]. Not worth putting the money into. If you get a chance compare the rear axle to a GSXR rear axle. Suzuki put all the cheap parts on the Katana to make it affordable. Get the yzf 600r or if you want a more sport touring bike get the zx6 [with the dual pipes, looks like a small zx11].

I always crack up when people dog the Katana. It's even more funny when I see good riders on their Kats destroy squids in the twisties on their latest and greatest supersport.

Owning a state of the art bike doesn't automatically make one fast.
