Is there any advantages/disadvantages to removing the air pump? I saw on Ivans webpage that he has a kit for this, just wondering if this helps at all.

By removing the air pump you will save weight and it helps with popping on deceleration

do I have to have any other modifications done to it? or just simply removing the air pump and crap is okay. Should I go with the kit that Ivan has or do I not need that kit.

You should really go with Ivans kit unless you have access to some good tools. If you do not use a tap made for stainless steel you will end up breaking it and then you are screwed. The price will probably be about the same either way but do you want to go hunt for a tap and plugs,etc????
