I'd be out for those dates, got a wedding on the 28th. ...Don't worry its not mine. But there's no getting out of it. First weekend of June would be better for me.

Sounds good, I think I do the Fast school on the 13th. I'll just have to confirm the date. June is usually better weather than May.

The weekend after is the 4/5 June. How's that? I have a wedding to attend the 11/12. Not mine, been there, done that. Maybe a Sunday this year, or an overnighter, if there is enough interest. It went well last time, with all the armchair racing well into the night.:p

Hey "highside" I finally found this thread. This sounds like a great plan, I'll mark June 4th and 5th in my calendar. I was wondering though, since I havn't attended your previous rides, where you guys meet and basically how is the time spent, I mean do you guys get together in the morning, go riding, then everybody stays at a motel somewhere or something and go out again the next day? Also, what types of roads are used, and what is the ride like? I mean flat out crazy, or easy, little bit of both you know what I mean. It would be great if someone could fill me in on this. Thanks guys. I feel terrible for Aaron Gobert, such a bad luck during yesterday's SuperStock Daytona race. Damn new 05' GSXR may spell trouble. Later. :rant :fork :rant

nice, I didn't know this thread was happening. June 4/5 is perfect for me... I've also got a wedding on May 28 and I'm leaving to go to The Gap on June 11... this is perfect, haha. Let's see, we meet at Fowlers Corners just North West of Peterborough (however you spell it) I made a map for the last time, I'll see if I can attach it. The roads are pretty dencent... I was never really bored unless we were lost. Also, just go at your own pace, we do a head count at every stop sign... the last year there was 4 or 5 of us out front and we'd have to wait 10 minutes for the last guy to catch up, no biggie. Haha, remember when I came flying around that corner at about 80 only to be staring a stop sign in the face... that was funny... locked up the rear and fishtailed to a stop just in time. Ahhh, memories...

The meeting place is just northwest of Peterbough. Peterbough is northeast of T.O. Its 2 hours from Toronto. Take the 401 east then 115 north, 7A north off of 115 and your there. Jim

Hello boys and girls... it's been a while. :p I'm in for this ride! Don't have a ride yet but I'm bidding on bikes on eBay and looking through the local rags. Jim S., good to hear from you, Canuck, nice seeing you and Bob at the bike show, Matt, good to see that you're back on your feet (I think the last time I was online, you had a bit of a mishap). Looking forward to riding again, this has been the winter of my discontent. p.s. anyone want to give me the synopsis of the Deal's Gap trip... too much reading to catch up!

Welcome back! I'm looking forward to this ride after missing it for the first time last year. Now I just need to work on getting the weekend off work. BTW... Jim you're a trooper I don't think it was that warm here on Sat and I bet it was a couple degrees cooler in Brighton. Still havent been out yet but I might make it out for an hour on saturday if its nice. This is perfect, It's only been 2 weeks since I put my sled away and already were talking about biking!!!!

For those that asked about my bike, I just fixed it up over the winter... still in need of a new fairing stay ($310 +tax new) but I can live without it for now.. the one I have now is pretty bent; but she's all together and running... was out all this past weekend.

Time to start putting in names and days! June 4-5 weekend. One day or two? Saturday or Sunday? Please state preference, and spread the word on the PMs. I suck at typing, and I'm on dial-up - could some faster guys(or bored ones) shout it out? Me, I have a kitchen pass for both days, so let the mob rule. I will have routes ready for one or two days, just in case.:p PS I picked up a camera, so Jim S will be in some of the pics this year!:lol

I'm in for 2 days, as always it's pending a disaster at work that chains me to the desk. I talked to modsquad tonight and he's also in as long as he can keep his bike running this year...maybe we could all chip in for a couple extra bottles of coolant.

Here it is - the new steed. A '01 ZX-12R, in the faster blue colour:D I am still getting aquainted with it, but so far, so good. It is almost 100 lbs heavier(!), but it seems to be mostly muscle mass. It is more of a sportbike than a 'busa, but it's no scalpel. Think linebacker doing ballet. It doesn't like to go slow at all:p

I am probably going to use the Barry's Bay place as a mid-point again, and Fowler's Corners as the beginning. Just too damn convenient for both - coffee and low traffic at first, and a Gasthaus with great food next to the hotel. I have a different route in mind for Sunday, however. I'll be scouting tomorrow.

UPDATE: The number for the Motel is: 1-800-363-6936 (Doug+Maureen) www.mountainview-motel.com Mention the "R1 Ride" so we can be on the end together. The Tavern still has the Polish buffet that we loved last time; ten percent off as guests of the motel. Roads are looking great, BTW, pray for good weather.

Anyboby else book a room? Sooner is better. Saturday plan is to meet at Fowler's Corners at 9:30 for a day of riding, with lunch in Haliburton and ending in Barry's Bay for the night The Sunday plan is to ride until lunch time at Kaladar; that should leave plenty of time for the return trip home for everyone. Any problems with this being the semi-official, subject-to-change, hope-we-don't-get-lost plan? :p

The ride was fan-tastic! Warm up on the 507, Haliburton lunch, Elephant Lake road, couple of 500 series roads(515,512?), cool stops along the way(one even sold cold beer!), wheelies in front of the hotel, courtesy call from the OPP, bench racing for the evening, just the usual good, clean fun. Shame about the sprinkle on Sunday, I was looking forward to an exciting morning of riding. I hope the northeners didn't get too wet on their way home - it was good to have them down, good riders all. Pics to follow. I even got Jimsab in a couple:D
