2004/05 R1 v 2001 R1

hi all just ordered my new R1 was wonderin just how the 04/05 R1 compairs to the 2001 modle i got now on paper it has more of everything but out on the road is it better:dunno

i heard the power doesn't kick in till 6 grand on the new bike. but when it does, hell breaks loose. have fun and ride safe:)

well put it like this... i had an 01 and went out and bought a 05 there is alot of differences. handling is more stable but it doesnt drop into turns like the 01... the 05 has way!!! more power than the 01 and you will notice that instantly. the suspension brakes and overall feel on the 05 is a much better package with alot of power

well the 2001 has gone now:( n its typical the weather has got better but dont get my 05 till next week :bow mmmm cant wait to run it in n give it some , ta much for all yer replys

well great news got the new one quicker than expected dvla transferd my reg No real quick well its got more go lower in the rev range than the 01 dam it hate runnin in new bikes, the breaks r crap at mo due to all bein new + was spoilt with hh pads n braded hoses on the 01 the steering feels a little slower to but sure it will get better when i can ragg it about anyone know any good suspension settins for the 04/05 ?????

Don't get me wrong I love my 04, but, I liked my 2000 better. The low end and over-all power delivery was better. It was more comfortable. It had underseat storage and you could use a tank bag. The 04 definately has more power, but, requires you to work the engine to access it. Once into the power though, you'd better be holding on tight. The 04 also seems to handle better. You can go faster on the 04 with less drama. There is no doubt that the 04 is the fastest way around the track. However, in my opinion, the 2000 was a better all around bike.

strange would defanatly say the new was more comfey than the 01 pegs feel in more natral position but the seat is harder+more weight on yer ass as pegs r lower ,bars aint quite as much of a strech on the new one eather, think the 01 looked better but the new one is growin on me ,its nicer to ride than the 01will find out more once its run in:jump
