Now they tellin me it could be the Crankshaft, told me that bike was so fast that it might have ate the teeth on the molded gear, does anybody know anything about this! If so please HELP!!! I owned a 1999 R1 and sold it with 26,000 miles. Yeah it ticked..all the old ones do..nothing to worry about. don't let them BS you. This is a well known problem with yamaha.
You can hear a ticking sound on the left side of the engine around 2500 rpm if you have this problem.
