Hey guys....Just wanted to let ya all know that I had bought a Sportech windscreen and just tried to install....To no avail. The manufactuer states it takes 5~10 minutes, but I tried (with much frustration) for about an hour and I just don't see it happening without the upper removed. But then too....I mated it up to the upper and it has a gap the size of Grand Canyon between it and the upper! Most likely would allow enough water to fill the Snake river too when raining! Take my advice.....DON'T WASTE YOUR $$$

I should have posted that before you bought yours, I could have saved you a lot of frustration. But I just recently aquired a new computer because I lost mine in one of those marriage break-up thing (The big D) so I was out of it for a while. Have you tried any other brand of windscreen? I'm thiking of Puig double bubble. :ugh Sportech=Crap

Rock7467, Yes, I have tried another. I bought the Puig light smoked double bubble in the race style and I absolutely love it! It's easy to install, fits as good as the OEM screen, and it looks awesome! Another nice thing about the Puig is, I got it for the same price as the Sportech. You can too @ Indysuperbikes.com!

Does this hold true for the 02-03 versions as well? I just ordered the black chrome because I like the color but I'm gonna be pissed at myself if it doesn't fit right. Thanks.

I installed mine this past week on my '02 and it looks good. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't sit flush like the stock screen. It's only something that is noticed because I know that the stock screen fits perfectly.

I didn't notice the past threads, but is it an R1 that you have a Sportech on? And, if so, how about some pictures up close of the shield mated to the upper? My last R1 had a off brand shield that basically looked like the Sportech. They too didn't use the drop edge design (as the stock OEM does), but used a piece of tubing to seal off the gap it left behind. Unless it has the drop edge, I'd have to agree, there is no way it will fit without ending up with a gap!

I've installed the Blue Chrome on my 05 R1, it took a little while, but i didn't have to remove the upper. It has the double-sided tape the will hold the lower 2 "nuts" in place until you screw them in. Mine fit just fine. Did u get the wrong year sent to you by mistake?

I have the black chrome on an black 05, looks good but there is a gap in the upper screen. Ive MacGyvered it a bit with double sided tape, its hard to notice I will look around for Puig when I can find it locally
