Would you pay for a video of yourself going through the gap? Of course if you have your own camera or know a friend that has one this doesn’t apply to you. But for those that don’t…….

I’ve been flirting with the idea of shooting vids at the dragon with my new equipment. Hopefully I’ll have it rigged up so I can either follow, or lead and get some rear footage of the person behind me. There is someone that does it now, his name is Steve K., but he rides a goldwing. Not sure if he’d be able to hang with the R1 guys or not, or if he’d even be down there during the convention.

Keep in mind what this would mean to those of you that opted for the vid. I’d either ride behind or in front of you for the length of the dragon. Then, I’d take the vid home on dub it to a DVD or to VHS, and then drop it in the mail to you. Turnaround time would be about a week I’d think, depending on how many guys wanted it. All of those would be covered in a $20 fee, which happens to be the same amount that Steve charges his clients. I figure that’s a decent amount, since I’d have to pay for postage, materials, and use a little bit of my time. I’d probably net about $5 per deal.

Just want to put a feeler out there to see if it is even worth it. I figure with the amount of guys going, I’d probably have time to shoot quite of few of them over 3 or 4 days. Plus, I’d get to ride the dragon about a billion times….

Let me know, if nobody wants to do it that’s cool too.

that would be rpretty cool. would the person buying it get a guarantee that you won't run your mouth about how much faster you are then them the whole time? or is there a discounted rates to have to listen to that. maybe the honda or ducati forums would like it :hellobye

Steve K is running a 650 vstrom right now while his wing is in the shop.

this video could be a good learning tool for some of those that dont get to go to the track. Watching yourself on video you see just how your not doing what you thought you were.

From what my buddy in Bryson city (very close to the gap) who goes every other weekend tells me, they had a crack down this weekend, but not of the same scale. Another LEO buddy from Knoxville says they have a special taskforce in place for the weekend of the R1 convention. They are supposedly monitoring many sportbike websites for this purpose. It's the only reason I'm not going. You guys really should think about riding on the NC side, the roads are as good, and the police are way cooler.

Yeah I know but its sucks that they will be there targeting the R1forum members. Next year you guys might not want to post up your info. Or go someplace else. As for video's? Sure just don't cross the DY or speed 2 mph over the limit. Perhaps stay away from Tenn..

They are thinking about Helena Georiga next year. Warrior was going to have a breif meeting at the Gap with everyone about it.

I did a web search on Helena Georiga, seems like a nice place with much of the same as the Gap.

In either case, I will be there in 06'!:fact

May 8, Sunday: South bound lane with 5 (new) deliberate oil spots on the dragon, TN DOT spread sand. Law Enforcement has a good lead on a suspect. Three Motorcycle LEO's on the Dragon today, they were pretty upset about the oil spills. Road should be in good shape Monday. Quiet day on the Dragon, no serious incidents other than the oil spills.

Here is some video that I shot yesterday to give you an idea. I'm going to have an alterante mic for the gap in order to capture engine noise instead of tons of wind. I'm thinking instead of mailing I could just download, edit and burn a CD for anyone while I'm down there.

As far as them trying to take away video for evidence, I believe that would need a warrant to take it.


I was on a ride a few months back when something went wrong with another rider and had my video camera with me, though I didnt have the camera mounted at the time of the accident, I did have it in my backpack with about 30 minutes worth of high speed road footage..It was something I didnt want the FHP to have a look at.
