crsr1 06-02-2005, 02:47 PM Hey guys! Like I put in the subject, I'm new to the forum. I was on the dragon on memorial day and saw no leos anywhere. Their not around as much as people think. They will write you up quick for things such as illegal tag placement. It's been packed up here lately, but everything should be great for the weekend of the convention...... hopefully! Hope to make some new friends and maybe some of you can teach me some pointers! If I hear anything, I'll post later!
BluAreWun 06-02-2005, 04:11 PM Welcome to the R1 forum :hellobye
I've been on here less than a month myself.
I was at the gap Memorial Weekend on Sunday and saw a couple leo's on bikes parked at Abrams Falls Rd. There were none on the gap when I went thru.
I guess you've read about the R1 convention in a couple weeks, come on down.
Check out www.easttnriders.com (http://) too. They are having a get together June 11th at crot.

ok, now im curious. what constitutes improper plate placement ? if you have removed your factory fender as most of us have, what is considered a legal place to put your plate ? my plate is in clear view from behind the bike 5-8 feet, it fastended to the rear pegs "hugging" the undertail. you cant see my plate from the side, but can from the rear. should i consider fashining a bracket so my plate hangs down more ?
if i was being folled by the local law, they would have no trouble seeing my plate from the back. are they really that anal about this topic down there ?
thanks otis:fork
Aron213 ti 06-05-2005, 09:27 AM I believe the tag must be at the rear most part of the bike, in a horizontal position.
So anotherwords, not tucked up under your rear wheel, and not bolted to the side of the swingarm(aka chopper style)
I removed my fender on day one, but took a small piece of 90 degree angled aluminum and made my own plate holder going thru the original factory fender holes..never had a problem anywhere. But the one thing I lack is a plate light, but since LEO pressence on the GAP at night is unheard of, Im not going to sweat that
Kevap 06-05-2005, 09:29 AM Plate can't not be under the bike by the rear pegs. Has to be out like in the stock position.
YES, they are REAL ANAL about it! You will get stopped and ticketed! :yesnod

BluAreWun 06-05-2005, 09:48 AM From the Tennessee Code
55-4-110. Display of registration plates - Manner - Penalty for violation.
(a) The registration plate issued for passenger motor vehicles shall be attached on the rear of the vehicle. The registration plate issued for those trucks with a manufacturer's ton rating not exceeding three-quarter (3/4) ton and having a panel or pickup body style, and also those issued for all motor homes, regardless of ton rating or body style thereof, shall be attached to the rear of the vehicle. The registration plate issued for all other trucks and truck tractors shall be attached to the front of the vehicle. All dealers' plates, as provided in § 55-4-221, and those registration plates issued for motorcycles, trailers or semitrailers shall be attached to the rear of the vehicle.
(b) Every registration plate shall at all times be securely fastened in a horizontal position to the vehicle for which it is issued so to prevent the plate from swinging and at a height of not less than twelve inches (12") from the ground, measuring from the bottom of such plate, in a place and position to be clearly visible and shall be maintained free from foreign materials and in a condition to be clearly legible. No tinted materials may be placed over a license plate even if the information upon such license plate is not concealed.
(2) A person charged with a violation of this section may, in lieu of appearance in court, submit a fine of ten dollars ($10.00) for a first violation, and twenty dollars ($20.00) on second and subsequent violations to the clerk of the court which has jurisdiction of such offense within the county in which the offense charged is alleged to have been committed.
Now don't this really make it clear? :bs
