2006 East Coast Convention Ideas

I found this at Laguna Seca, I think it may be an idea for us west coast guy's to make it out there??? If we could get six people it would be about $600 each........ This would cover all rental fee's and gas... We would still need to cover food and a place to stay while we were there.... I figure about $1200 each would allow for a great time... I think it's still a fair amount....................

Fellas, I tell you what... I've been home for a month now from the 05' Convention and I'm already thrilled to death about going to the 06' Convention. Only problem is the deployment schedule may put me out of country during that time frame....:no :no :mad: :mad: I'm not for sure yet, so I'll call down to Fontana and reserve the "King of the Mountain" cabin on top of the hill again and see what they say if I have to cancel. With any luck, I won't have to wait until June of next year to meet up with some of my new found friends! :thumbup For those of you on the West Coast, this is definitely a trip worth making. I had a bunch of friends from here in the STL that made the trip out there for the AMA/MotoGP races and said it took them about 2-3 days to make the drive (3-4 for those that stopped and rode along the way). But I would definitely plan on making some stops along the way and riding some of the sweet spots between here and there! Just my .02 cents (not that its worth anything) Stu

I'm not knocking the west coast guys but you guys have got to be joking if you think they will show up. They couldnt get together for a trip on the WEST coast, they sure as hell aren't going to make one 2500-3000 miles away. If they do I'll buy their beer. Joe brought it on himself... I've never messed with anyone that's not messed with me first... :fact I'd suggest a 30 day prior to the event cut off on paying for services... I'd really like to have dinners cooked for everyone that pitches in again... It really contributes to the socializing to be able to talk and hang out with each other at dinner.. :fact So I think pitching in for food again would be a good idea... Not sure how to regulate who cooks so we don't have to do it or rely on one person the whole time but here's an idea.. If anyone knows a rider or friend etc that's a great cook.... Maybe each person contributing $ for meals can put in an extra $10-$15 to pay for someone to do the cooking. They'd just have to spend 2-3 hours a night (propably less) doing the cooking and they'd get payed for it... We can get some bracelets or event passes id tags, one for each person that's paid up.. so there's no trouble identifying who's paid and WHO gets to eat... :lol :fact This year a guy who was soliciting stuff on the forum and was banned for it showed up for dinner.. I know for a fact he never paid anything and that he doesn't participate on this site walked up to where the food cook station was and started moving tables around checking all over everything, looking in boxes and really he didn't have any business doing it, he even lipped off to wonder about getting banned.. It's not something to start trouble over or anything but bracelets would take care of that to indentify things... My suggestion would be something like this.... $55 per person... (children $20 for just food each) $20 food $15 cook $20 Grand Prize Raffle Then if 100 show up I can get a $2000 grand prize to give away at the raffle. That'll damn near outfit someones bike :fact This year I brought about $500 worth of t-shirts and it seems it's more popular that way cause TONS of people got one.. The $35 dollars of it that would be contributed to food would FARRRRRRRRRRRRRR outweigh driving 30 min. to the crossroads each night to each cheap or eating at the very nice place at Fontana but not getting to socialize and chill with all our bros.... :fact

I especially like the food idea, because I really enjoy having the 4 meals and socializing and if we could work it out to do that again and have someone designated to cook and not mind, and get paid for it, that would be great.

Steve just called he was riding and the back end slipped out and he ended up high siding. He will be going to the hospital in the morning to have his knee and ankle checked. The bike needs a good bit of work now, but he said he used some zip ties to hold the headstay together and was able to ride the gap a few more times before heading back to the hotel. But he is happy because KillBoy got some good pictures of him after the accident.:no

no the tires spins up slides out then when it catchs traction it throughs you. it is very painful most of the time. that is why spinnin up the rear is dangerous because if you are alittle sideways when it does catch it hooks and you go for a flight

He got to the ER around 12:30 this after noon and around 4:00 I got a phone call from his friend/boss and he said they had just taken him back. I haven't heard anything else as to if they found anything. All I know is that he said his knee and ankle were killing him because I guess when the bike through him off his foot got caught on the foot peg. And for Steve to decide on his own to go to the ER he has to be in a lot of pain!

Steve, I run about 29 lbs front and rear in my tires. I was running SC2's this year but have run SC1's also at the Gap. The both do fine. BTW, 45-50 is plenty fast enough to crash or break the tires loose at the Gap:yesnod Glad you are ok. BTW, I had a little crash myself this weekend:scared LOL, it was the the MX track though. Pretty hard get off after over shooting about a 65 foot step down double. I'll post some pics of my bike when I get home. I think I may have cracked a couple ribs though. Going to xray them today at work. Was having a ton of fun until then though...:rock

luckily it looks like the handlebars are the only thing bent on the bike.

I had a buddy give me a set of pro taper bars, now I just have to get an upper tripple to mount them on. That was pretty cool....not if I can just find some new ribs:lol :lol

yeah Randy, last few trips to the MX track have been rough. But I tell you I was having a blast!!! I even was clearing a 87 ft tripple and a 90 ft downhill double:rock :) But the one I crashed on was about a 70ft step down double/ tabletop. I over shot it bu about 10 feet....ooops:lol resulting in this

Last pic... on the xrays the top rib marked is completely broken and the next two are slightly cracked....hopefully I will heal right up and be riding again soon.

BACK ON TOPIC!!!!!!!!!!!! I was kidding about being down with strippers, family event (R1-Family) and hopefully I will have my daughter there with her new dirtbike! Second, I think we need to get a printed schedule of events (dinner, rides, activities, picture meets) printed and distributed NLT April 15th or so. I got asked 100's of time "what time is this" or "what time is that". Let's get a schedule and stick to it. Also on that note, let's not make the schedule so large that there is no BS time!:fact (or time with family for that matter!) Just my .002! Voodoo

There will not be much of a schedule...takes away from just hanging out and riding and bsing. If there are certain things planned like whitewater rafting etc. we can make sure that is printed and handed out at the frontdesk.
