2006 OFFICIAL R1/R6 FORUM EAST COAST CONVENTION AT DEAL'S GAP JUNE 12-18th

Ok, it's that time again this will be the Official thread for all the info for the 2006 R1/R6 Forum East Coast Convention at Deal's Gap. I will make all changes and updates here on the first post Let's keep this thread for info and convention talk. Please use the chit chat thread to post whore and for off convention talk, thanks. The R6-Forum will be joining us this year. The R6 Forum is owned by the same people, the McCoy's, that own the R1 Forum so we are going to make this a combined event for this year. Although we will keep up with all the R1 Forum stuff here and they will keep up with the R6 Forum Stuff over there. FUNDS REQUIRED: Each person will need to pay me $60 and the cut off will be May 10th 2006 for that money. Broken down...$20 for 4 nights of food, $20 for the each raffle tickets, and $15 to pay for the cook and $5 to cover paypal stuff. We will have arm bracelets of some kind to identify if you have paid or not. That is the best way to make sure only paid people get to eat and are involved in the raffle. my paypal is gawarrior@comcast.net ****you can buy as many raffle tickets for $20 as you want, just make sure you let me know so I can put you down for "X" amount Here are the details to date: Date: June 12-18th These are the dates that it will Officially be going on. But the Dinners will still be on Wed, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. If you can't come the whole week at least try and get there by Wed or Thursday. The whole area is unbelievable during the week when things aren't as crowded. It would really suck to not be able to get a cabin at Fontana:yesnod There are other places to stay but you want to stay up there with us for sure. They do have Inn rooms available this year, but I suggest getting a cabin. You can come out a lot better and they can get you closer to where will be set up in a cabin also. And to be honest some of their cabins are just a cheap as the Inn Rooms. Look at their website and inquire of them by phone to make your choice. 1-800-849-2258. I would suggest making reservations as early as you can, everywhere fills up that time of year up there. Make sure you tell them you are with the R1 Rally so you get the special rates and so that they put you with us, if there are any problems ask to speak with John or Debbie or just let me know. They have blocked off a section for us. So start making reservations as soon as you can. For the guys coming up as singles I would suggest getting together with other folks on the Forum and splitting the cost of a small or large cabin. There are gonna be several cabins available. Some of them brand new! Fontana also has campsites available if you want to camp. They are approx. a mile down the road. Everyone is welcome – but please realize that this group is made up with many types of riders of different skill levels and desires. This is not about getting together to race, or to drag other people into riding above their limits! Everyone is expected to ride at their own pace and have a good time! Ok, now for the good part. EAST COAST CONVENTION BOSS: ME FOOD: UPDATE Change of plans for the food for the convention. Our cook has had something come up so I am having to find another plan for the dinners each night. I talked to Fontana Village and they are going to handle this for us this year. They will cook the food and we will pick it up each night. We are going to start with simple things early in the week like sandwiches and hot dogs and hamburgers. Then maybe progress into some nicer dinners by thursday and friday. I am working on someone donating the funds to cover the Steak dinner for saturday night as we speak. If that works out the $40 per person will still cover all the food and actually get you food every night of the convention, monday-saturday. If for some reason I cannot get the saturday dinner donated I may have to collect a little bit more money from everyone...but I am hoping not to do so. So, PLEASE get me your food money in ASAP!!! This is when everyone hangs out each night and all the bsing goes on. You will spend more money and time doing your own food if than going this route. COOK: Fontana Village MENU: subject to change monday--cold cut sandwiches tuesday--hamburgers and hotdogs wednesday--chicken fingers thursday--meatloaf and mashed potatoes green beans etc. friday--bbq plates SATURDAY: YAMAHA STEAK DINNER!!!!! Deadline of May 10th has passed. If you have not gotten me the food money then you are not going to be able to eat with us. I am sorry. You know i'll be there. This year was on my B-day and had one of the best times. Awesome place compared to Flat Land Florida.

BUT their prices are going up next year so prices across the board are going up...they are not posted on Fontana's website yet though. i.e. the Magolia's are 195 per night...but that will be the new low season rates.:thumbup

I need someone to volunteer to do a sign up sheet for me. One that everyone can have for too purposes...first in case of emergency we know who to contact... and second, to keep a running list of everyone so that we can contact new friends. So, anyone up to do that?

ON the raffle tickets...I will have a book of "x" number of tickets for each $20 you pay. So the more books you buy the better your chances will be to win something. We will lay out all the prizes and you will be able to put however many tickets you want into a bucket for each prize. Then we will draw tickets to see who wins what. As of now I am not sure how many each book will have...depends on how many prizes we have and how many people buy tickets.

woo hoo finally.... i so can't wait.... i had a great time... and can't wait till next year.... alright.... for those people that might want video of them selfs on the gap.... i should hopefully have a rear mount to go with my front mount for the camera this year..... if you have a Camcorder, or DC... and wish to have video of yourself on the gap.... i'll be more then happy to help you out at the 2006 convention... i will of course have my camera, and my lap top handy they entire time there.... so i can even get it on my camera and burn a disk for you if you wish..... this is a no charge thing.... i want to get as much video as possible to try and make a pretty kool movie out of it... just video of people riding, i'll even be spending 1-2 days doing nothing but shooting video from the look outs and pull over spots.... so i just thought i would mention this in case anyone wanted a chance to get some video of themself this coming year......

Remember, if you don't get a cabin {and some don't have A/C} you can book a Inn Room. Scott {GPD240} and I stayed in one for the '04 Convention. Cold A/C and it only came out to about $25 for each of us per night. Just don't wait until the last minute to make your reservations.

yea slow hondas are allowed that is why i come. i just stay out of the way and let everyone by me ;) one person cooking last year it was about 4 of us cooking a night with a main chef more or less if that makes since

I made mine in the beginning of Aug this year and had to fight. As the riding season ends and more members are online, this list will grow quickly. Voodoo

i can't reserve it yet... i'm waiting to hear who might go with me... plus with all the stuff i have going on right now... i don't have the money for the deposit.... but i will have my cabin reserved by the 1st-2nd week of Nov regardless of who's going and who's not...... might just be me going.... and then i guess i'll have a bed room and a couch up for grabs

just a reminder to some poeple... don't know if this has been brought up.... they do have camp grounds to for you people that don't really want to spend all that money on a cabin or room... i think it's $20 a night?

And if you can't go you can always cancel if something comes up. And selling th couch will be a snap as we get closer. And for you camp post. We have a few members that camped last year. I did not visit the campgrounds but I guess it seemed ok. Glad you mentioned it though for others to think about. Voodoo

that's a good question on the room thing..... i didn't do that last year so i can't answer that too well.... but the way things are looking for me... i'll probably have some spare room at my cabin.... and i'd probably charge 50% of the cabin price for whatever days you stayed... or split the price up among how many people want to stay there...... but as far as best timet o be there.... during the week is good.... and weekends early morning or late afternoon..... mon-thrusdays leaves the road fairly open till about noonish.... then it gets a little crowded, but not that bad..... trust me any nightmarish stories you've heard about it being overly crowed probably were over told... it really doesn't get all that bad.... just sometimes

Me and one other buddy were thinking about getting a cabin if their was still any open. I cant call till wed to find out. I was just currious because their will only be 2 of us and we wouldnt mind renting out the couch or any other room that we had after we both got a spot. I have never been so i dont know how big the cabins are, i plan to find out wed when i call though. we dont want to have to crowded of a cabin though. Although we do plan on having a good party at our cabin one night that we dont plan on riding the next morning :boobies :boobies :boobies

i know the laurals... (the cabin i want) is 2 bed rooms... about 10X10 with a livingroom and kitchen combined.... the big cabins like what Chad has are huge.... 3 big bed rooms... huge living room and almost seprate kitchen.... don't know about the sizes of the other ones
